81 code

1989 mtx it might go 1 mile or 30 before it quits. Just done 60k. it did this before 60k. new fuel pump. air solenoid works like i think it should. it opens out when u work throttle above 4k rpm. starts up pretty quick after it dies. NEED help.

When it quits, how long does it take until it will restart?

Thanks It starts imediately but usually is flooded. I cleaned the terminals on the mas air sensor and has not quit after about 20 min. and 4 miles, storm was coming and I put it up. Could 81 code be on mas air sensor too?
