Last night was a partial success. The forever revolving door of checks and tests. Full circle back to the crank relearn process. I gave up too easy when I found for my OS in HP, VCM Scanner doesn’t list any special vehicle functions for me. Until I realized…oh yeah I can use Forscan…which is likely better anyway…
Yeah….this procedure carries real weight. Just read what the criteria is.

-built engine
-new crank sensor
Those 2 are perfect reasons.

Yes…….essentially I introduced the PCM to the literal engine in the engine bay for the first time and then wiped the PCM’s learned memory.
And the car instantly rewarded me. Low speed, low load-moderate load shifts? Synchronized! Clean! Exhaust note? Crisp like as if before it was mono now it’s in Stereo. Drivability restored. And it felt spicy doing moderate stuff. I was trying hard to stay objective but every time I had to come to a stop and go, every time I gave it a little it consistently rewarded me.
It didn’t improve a few shifts, it improved every shift. It felt coherent, it felt drivable. It felt synchronized. I even got a taste of one of the most beautiful mechanical moments, a 2nd gear downshift from 3rd as I was slowing down and it felt like it was perfectly rpm matched…like butter. No joke I went from guarded but happy…wondering if it would mess up once or twice to…relying on it to be perfect and it didn’t let me down.
I was pumped! I thought this might be it. I took off to my log road hoping that engine speed limit was resolved. And at this point I’m learning what it feels like to hit that limit.
I can feel it go flat as I floor it. It did the same thing, flipped immediately to engine speed limit and throttle kept the car to that glass wall of 368 brake torque. But man…it shifted cleaner and I actually let out bc during 4th throttle came back. When I let out the exhaust did one solid CRACK and it felt and sounded great.
I wasn’t sure what the log would show but drivability felt like it was BACK. This was the absolute best it’s ever felt since the new build. It was just in sync…that’s all I kept coming back to. It just felt off…now it feels synced. That crank relearn was absolutely needed and the car fit the criteria perfectly.
Sent the log off to Ryan. One more log now with crank relearn and adaptive tables reset. Just more evidence. But like I told Ryan……it’s enjoyable to drive now. Even with it the engine speed limiter….i could take it out and enjoy it for the first time. It’s that synced under WOT.
And it’s interesting when I think about where I’m at now. If I take a step back it’s eerily cool…I pushed this car to the point I have Ryan Martin and Eric Brooks both looking into the software bc right now nobody thinks it’s the hardware.
