8" subs

Okay...I have a bandpass box that came with two crappy no-name 8" subs, and I would like to replace them with some REAL speakers. Anyone have any suggestions?

MTX makes nice sounding 8's. I have one 8 in a sealed box and its sound is surprisingly clean and loud.

How much do you want to spend and how many watts is the amp pushing ??? I carry alot of different subs.

Well...I'm not looking to buy just yet; I'm just comparing prices. The amp I'm going to use is 500Wx2, I believe. Right now it's in my Ranger, tied to a Rockford Fosgate RFX-8210 headunit and pushing a single 12" Blaupunkt. It's not the loudest or the cleanest bass, but it works.

Keep in mind that if you don't have a "well known" amp, you can fool around with the wiring to the speakers. There are different ways to hook up speakers to get the most out of the amp.

 

[Aspect]

Make sure you find out the specs of the box. You want to make sure that they are within the specs of the woofer you choose to replace them with. Some woofers work great with sealed but not in an bandpass situation. Read all the specs (woofer and box) and match them as best as possible.

There are alot of brands out there as well. Choose a reliable brand (Kenwood, JBL, Polk, Infinity, JL Audio, etc...)with a good warrenty to back them.
