I have a 95 3.2L motor with 82K on it sitting in my garage. I Bought it for my 93 which has 112K on it.I have loads of experiance with nearly everything but these SHO's. Started to read up on these motors, thier failure spots, maintenence and so on. What is involved in a 60K service? How do you adjust the shims, are they held in with a retaining ring on the lifter? Is the Helm, the service manual helpful?. Can someone throw out some tips, things to be warned of in doing a 60K. Were to pick up the tools if needed.

Thanks

Purchase the 60K video set.

Go to http://www.shophoenixproject.com/maint.htm
and take a look at some of his pics and he has a nice checklist of parts and where to get them.

My advice is to get two sets of cam seals. TRUST ME ON THIS!

Somebody here on this site has a nice consumable parts list but i don't remeber where.

There are many things that might need replacing in the 60K service, but just like other cars, replace what's broken or what will be really hard to get at if it goes bad after you get the motor back together.

A place that I learned a lot is www.shoshop.com. They go through quite a few things that you can replace.

I just had mine worked on a week ago. I would have done the work myself, but my SHO is my daily driver and I don't have the time to work on it extensively.

I had the following replaced: valve cover gaskets and seals, oil pan gasket, front and rear main seals, intake gasket, crank sensor, timing belt, water pump, thermostat (stock temp), plugs (factory Motorcraft Plat.), and wires.

There are many other things that can be done, but these seemed like the most important for now. I only have ~65K on my beauty and she is in great shape.

Looking back, I should have gotten the larger butterflies and runners since they were off. I'll be doing that myself later tho.

Hope this helps!
