93 Red ATX
Recently had top 60K done by Terry--NC89SHO. 93 ATX with 177,500 mi and in dire need of help. Included vavle adjustment, gaskets, plugs (Motorcraft double platinum), and AC DELCO wires ($38). Had major oil leak from front valve cover and plug wells were probably full also. Secondaries weren't opening and nozzles in throttle body were clogged. Fuel pump was also replaced. Car did run but poorly!
Resulted in a car that will run like a SHO should and is again fun to drive. May cost me extra in the way of "tickets"!
After the 60K still had noise that sounded similar to timing belt tensioner that has been covered here in recent topics. Mine turned out to be bearings in both upper and lower idler pulleys. Did a lot of internet searching for bearings--two different ones--and ended up buying both idler pulleys for $156. The new upper pulley was $64 and the bearing alone would have been $48 with shipping fron SHONUT--the only place that I found this bearing. I did finally find the lower bearing for $29 plus shipping but not until after ordering the pulleys. NO NOISE now that the pulleys have been replaced.
Fuel pump was replaced because of unexplained shutdown during hot weather on long trips. After several years of this problem, I am positive it is the fuel pump. Figured it out from threads on this forum.
All this for $860 including parts and labor!!
If you are in North Carolina and need a 60K, I highly recommend Terry--NC89SHO.
