5 speed U-joint

New owner of 95 SHO Taurus with 5 speed there is as Loose as I could get to you joint at the end of the long linkage rods is just about ready to fall off. Is there a solution for this issue?

First thing I would check and make sure there is no damage at the threaded boss on the transmission where the shift rods attach. Assuming there is only slop and no damage, I think I remember there were solutions to this posted years ago. You should run a search in the Gen1/2 maintenance section. Hopefully the old info is still archived on here.

I think the part you are referring to is what is called the clevis. Shosource has a repair kit that includes new parts that improve on the stock design. It can be found here.

Welcome! Mike installed one of these on my car and it tightened up the shifter so much I didn't need replacement rod shifter I had bought.
