When I bought my car the service history mentioned that the 3rd brake light had been replaced not too long ago. While it functions properly it looks like the tech that replaced it appears to have been put back together incorrectly. When the windows are open the rear of the headliner flaps in the breeze and the black trim cover doesn't have anything to clip into, it is only held on by adhesive-backed velcro, which always falls down when it gets hot outside.

Can someone take a picture of what this assembly is supposed to look like? I am convinced that I missing a piece. Thanks!

What year SHO? The 3rd brake light actually attaches directly to the back glass. The light assembly slides underneath the headliner. The brake light assembly and head liner do not attach together.

Does anyone know how to replace it? I don't want to spend the money at the dealer to replace mine but can't seem to find any info on how to replace.

Extremely easy! The entire assembly actually snaps/ attaches to the window and there's a plug tucked under the head liner.

If you have a soldering iron and haven't already bought the replacement part, consider fixing it yourself. Mine was working intermittently and then stopped altogether, turns out there was a broken solder joint on the circuit board where it connects to the wires going to the vehicle plug. I thought I took pictures but I can't seem to find them.
