Just got word back from Mike Bambic, he's not going to part with a weld bung by itself. I understand it from a business perspective, but kinda sucks as I'm having a tough time finding one that fits our MAP sensor....

unfortunately it's the one proprietary thing that prevents someone from grabbing some pre-made intercooler tubing and undercutting the market. It's not a difficult piece to make by any means, but it weeds out the cheap folks.

Do you have a local machine shop that could make one for you? I would figure even just taking the stock piping and asking them to replicate it would be easy enough. Could even take the sensor itself and just ask them to make it to a certain depth.

Honestly, IDK how I feel about that. I can see the logic behind that argument, but I can find BMW, Audi, VW MAP bungs all day long and also find IC systems for those cars that have them already welded in. So there's a market for both. He'll, I'd think it would be another revenue stream.

Anyway, yeah, that's an option I can entertain. Was hoping for an off-the-shelf solution but doesn't look that way. Maybe I'll be the guy who makes some coin on selling Ford MAP sensor weld bungs, lol. Not a huge market, but I'm sure I could move a few if I can get a batch made up...

I am sure the solution is out there. Just gotta find what else we share our casing with.

This one for the GTR looks very close... I just asked my buddy at Speed By Design for input, since they work with both GTRs and Ecoboost Mustangs.

The fact that a certain vendor won’t sell the part to a previous customer is ****** customer service IMO. It’s pretty obvious you’re not trying to reproduce those products.

Lol, I have no interest in undercutting him. I have his hotpipes and love em, but my build is outgrowing them and I will be doing custom IC piping along with a custom IC. I just need all the ports and bungs to weld to the piping and that's literally the only one I'm missing, lol...

Anyway, I'm not going to tell anybody how to conduct their business, it is what it is. It's not a terribly difficult piece to recreate. I'll just have some made and do what he won't...sell a few and make a small bit of coin...

I'd like to see the opening and fastener measurement specs on that BMW one. They all look so similar. Can you email them the specs and see if they match? For $18 that's a time/materials saver.

This one may work, and for $30 it could be worth a test fit, albeit only one hole but that's all you really need.

FYI, just confirmed without a shadow of a doubt that the BMW N54, N55, and S55 (likely others as well) engine families use the same Bosch TMAP/MAP sensor. Manufacturer (of the bungs, not Bosch, lol) and I went back and forth with some measurements and verified. So...if you guys need weld bungs for any custom application...just get one advertised for one of those engines since no one advertises one for a 3.5L SHO/Flex/Explorer EcoBoost...

I am going with this one...

...for a few reasons. The bolt holes don't go all the way through, so that is one less potential boost leak location. Even though the ****** is welded around the edges, if the bolt holes go all the way through as in some other vendors flanges, boost could potentially leak out past the bolt threads...I'm probably splitting hairs here though.

Oh..and it's cheap...$18.00!!!

OK, got the bung in...super high quality!

One minor hiccup: The bolt holes are machined for M6-1.0mm bolts...too large for our sensor. The bolts currently holding it down are M4-0.7mm. Guess what..they make adapters:

So, $18 for the bung, $15 for the adapters...$33...I feel is pretty reasonable...
