So first off, I want to thank everyone for their help on my previous post about the CPS and Crank Seal. I have since progressed on my project and now need an oil pump (wow, what a fun project).

In looking for an oil pump, I am now finding that the oil pump is no longer available through Ford. Therefore, I was wondering where else I can find an oil pump for my 3.2l? I found a 3.0l pump (appears to be the same), but I wanted to get some input from those obviously smarter than I about this car.

Thanks again in advance.

These pumps rarely, and I mean rarely go.

In fact, I don't think I've ever seen an oil pump go south.

What are the symptoms that pointed to the oil pump failing?

During reinstallation of the pickup tube, the studs cracked and are going to fail. There is no way to replace the studs, just the pump. I have had nothing but problems with this pump as I have worked through this whole process, so I give and will just replace.

Actually the studs are rather easy to replace. They are the same studs that hold the thermostat housing on.

You can get new replacements at just about any autoparts store.

My original studs broke too....90k on the replacement ones.

Take the pump to a competent mechanic or machinist. They will know the correct way to get the old studs out and new studs installed correctly. The 3.2 pumps are no longer available. I too have never seen an oil pump on a SHO fail to pump oil.

Thanks for all of the advice. I think at this point, I would rather spend a few bucks and get a whole new pump. So take it there is nobody out there that knows where I can find a pump for a 3.2? I can't believe how hard this part is to find. I guess I understand the opinion to just leave the old one in it, but I would rather put something new on it while I have the engine tore down.

You won't be able to fine a 'new' one. They don't exist, or if they do they are worth their weight in gold and nobody is going to offer to sell one to you.

If you found another one it would be off a junkyard motor, used obviously.

It would be best to keep the one you have.

They rarely fail. Just replace your studs and be on your way.

agree with everybody in here! I'd find a used one.... Eric Vervalin has a used one on his 20k motor, so if it's good enough for his new motor it's good enough for your motor! I understand about new parts, on your motor, but it's just not needed. And 400.00 dollars is better spent else where IMHO! Like a 60k or new suspension parts!
