that was just mock up to see if i liked it(why its all scratched up). i'll get it professionally done later. im not sure if i'll keep that scheme or not. the idea was the put emphasis on the secondaries.

So you came out through the top?

I'm just wondering how it's done, whether to go down and out or up and over

no, i went out the bottom. the reason the engine was on the cherry picker was to lift it off the sub frame. it can be taken out the top but i felt out the bottom would be better.
mind you, i did this swap so i could at least drive the car and enjoy it with out wondering when my old engine was going to fail (bad noises from with in). basically my plan is to fix the suspension up, interior, and sound system. then the engine and trans (tbd anyone?) is coming out again for a complete f/i rebuild and paint. im also going to have the car painted the original color while the engine is out. so it still has a long future and allot of $ to go. i was just tired of it sitting and wanted to drive it. :angelnot:

so whats the consensus guys.. im about to do a 3.0 to 3.3L swap, WITH trans... and id like to know if its easier to drop it all out the bottom, or if it can be done from the top?

i did mine from the bottom

of course I use a lift tho

the hardest part is getting the subframe adjusted to meet the body... I used a couple of HD moving dollies and 4x4's....

I've never tried to do it out the top... could be an interesting thing to try if all I wanted to do was remove the motor

I have a lift as well, but I prefer coming out the top. It is WAY easier, and saves about 4 hours, broken subframe bolts, etc. Just my opinion. I've done plenty of engine swaps in these to know what I'm talkin about.

all i did was push the the sub frame with the new engine under the car than used the cherry picker to lift every thing up. after that i could push every thing around tell it was lined up. if you dont have a cherry picker i could see how lining up the sub frame could be difficult.

i like the paint on it very nice color
thanks! not bad for a rattle can hu?

Looks sweet. How's it running?

great! i have really bad tires so it spins like crazy and its not registered yet so i cant really drive it that much.

i shot a vid earlier today. its uploading
