There are no points assessed for tranny swaps. The Honda guys mix and match stuff all the time to fiddle with gear and final drive ratios.
I get protested often enough with the stock motor. I don't even want to give somebody ammunition for a real protest issue.
FWIW, the last guy that protested my car got himself upclassed for his troubles.
