Well I think I've FINALLY found my problem that has been keeping my motor from starting!!... I pulled the intake manifold back off today to test my fuel injectors. I cut a fuel injector connector off my 3.2 harness and extended the wiring to reach to my battery.

I first gave power, then ground to each injector and out of the 6 injectors only one worked! I grounded out the fuel pump and the injector on the #3 piston is the only one that I could get sound from. For those of you who don't know, when you power the injector you hear it "click" on and off. I got no sound nor no spray from the other 5 injectors. They are simply dead.

The injectors came off the 47k mile 3.2 motor that I bought from a salvage yard last year. The vehicle that the motor was in was obviously in an accident of some sort.... and there's no way the the person driving the car was driving on only one injector-- so how could these 5 injectors have been destroyed??? I noticed that the main wiring harness was cut off the car, so I dunno if maybe when doing this the other injectors happened to get shorted out. Any ideas guys? Well now to try to find a good set of 3.2 injectors. I have my old 3.0 injectors that are all working but they have 150k miles on them so I don't expect them to last my lifetime. Is there maybe a way to repair these 3.2 injectors that I currently have?? Thanks in advance!!

Some ppl does the cleaning and flow balancing them , now is it gonna fix that? thats a good question.

If you dont have a HUGE amount of mods on it , the 3.0 one will work right in , i think they have like 1% less flow power then the 3.2's

Hey how are you doing this morning CerberuS? Yeah I think the injectors have been shorted out or something. It's gotta be something electronically wrong with them I'm sure.

I was reading last night that the 3.0 injectors are 23.7 lbs/hr and the 3.2's are 24.4/24.5 lb/hr. So yeah not a huge amount of difference. I have a ton of mods on this car, but only have 3.0 cams and no head porting or anything extreme, so I guess the 3.0's that I have should do just fine.

Well lemme get out there and clean up those 3.0 injectors, swap them over, and try to start it. Wish me luck!!!

You just fried your injectors testing them that way.

Did you put a multimeter on the injector leads while cranking to see if they were being pulled to ground by the PCM?

Hmmm the I tested the 3.0 injectors this way before swapping them in yesterday and they apparently work just fine. I don't think I fried the 3.2 injectors because they were what was keeping the motor from starting before I ever even tried testing them.

But yes a few days ago I did test for power to the injectors (didn't know I didn't to actually test the ground) and went to crank the motor over and lost power to EVERYTHING in the car suddenly. The negative battery cable was loose so I tightened it up and everything worked again.

i'm having this same problem with a 93 atx i picked up with a bad tranny. i can spray fuel, starter fluid down the intake and it'll run, but it wont run own its own. are you sure with out a doubt its the injectors?? i mean if it is, ill change them, but im unsure why these injectors would just quit working totally. ive change computers, relay boxes, checked grounds, fuel pump runs, new filter. get fuel at the rail, just wont get any in the cylinders.

Yeah sounds like it's your injectors too. I'm positive mine were the problem because like I said I tested all of them by giving them power and ground several times. Only one injector would respond. I did nothing but swap back over to my old 3.0 injectors and the motor fired right up for the first time in a few weeks.

Give it a try running power to your current injectors. If they're already no good then you're not going to hurt anything. You should hear the injector "click" as you give and remove power. If no click is heard it's no good. If it clicks then ground out your fuel pump with the ignition key ON and feed power to the injector. Look down the intake ports of the cylinder heads and see if the injectors are spraying fuel. If they're all spraying fuel then it may be your injector harness or other wiring.

I dunno myself how these injectors could've just gone bad, but like I posted above my only thought is when these salvage motors were hoisted out of the car they must've shorted something out when they cut the main harness if they cut yours like they did mine. Well I hope that helps!

I have know injectors to stick when sitting dry for extended periods of time. They will rust on the inside, but unless they've been left out in the yard or something crazy, a sonic cleaning will often loosen them and allow for cleaning. A resistance check of the injectors will tell you if the've been electrically damaged. Don't know about the 3.2's, but the 3.0 injectors are typically 13.7-13.8 ohms.
