3.0 engine transplant to a 97 sho

i bought a nice 97 sho w/auto trans. that had a sprocket spin.can't seem to find anyone to work on it(seattle area,can't afford shop rates)i also have a t-boned 98 3.0 taurus.has anyone ever done a 3.0 w/tranny & subrame etc.swap?i know the brain & harness, engine harnesses,sensors would have to be switched.but would i have to pull the dash,and replace them harnesses too?has anyone ever done this and would be practical?

i think youd have better luck looking for a SHO with rear end damage... for the motor of course... you dont want an SHO with an SLO motor

The duratec motor is no slouch but I wouldn't want to put on into a SHO.. you'd be losing the soul of the car..

I'LL second this motion. Although (not 100%) your SHO and the base model taurus/sabel should have the same wiring harness. Many of the parts are interchangable unless SHO spacific.

I have recently swaped a 3.4L into my 94 and although time consrtants due to my upcoming military move have caused increased pain, it can be done.
It should be much easier since you would be swapping from simular year models.

Feel free to pick my brain and experience if you decide to do the swap. You could also pick up a 3.4L from a parts car.
