I blew my motor in my 1990 at summit pt. and am trying to build another one now. I was wondering what bearings i should get if there are more than one kind. I was quoted 150 for a set of clevites at A&A. Is that a good price? I also have a 92 with 132K on it. Should i just throw bearings in that while im at it? The engine im rebuilding is a 90 and there are massive chunks out of the bearings-like over half the outer surface missing on some-hope the crank measures okay.

I remember that, I was sitting in my SHO w/ Ransom H. getting ready to head out for our session and I heard/saw this white gen1 go by, knocking and a banging :D

Clevite's are the way to go, about the only option, as the Ford feels their bearings are made of gold. Clevite should have the in .010" undersize, if you have your crank turned and rods resized.

Matt,

I would definitely put a new set of bearings in it...very cheap insurance now that you have everything apart anyway.
As far as I know, your choices are Clevite or Ford; available STD, .25mm, .50mm, .75mm.

If you can't find a better price than $150. (which is a little high), I found that I can get new Clevite rod, main, and thrust bearing sets locally for $120., and could ship a set to you or anyone else who needs them.

Hey Matt, Kirk is selling a 3.0 short block on ebay. You could always go that way. I think the bid is up to a whole $5.

Matt, they are the bearings I'm going to use. I bought a blue 92 for the wife and it need a new motor. I'm rebuilding the old 3.0 I pulled out of the green 92. I have a friend at work who's dad owns a engine shop. I'm going to take the block over the and have them rebuild the short block. I have 130,000 on the green 92 and havn't touched the bottom end, but it is up to you.
