I bought a 94 ATX with no prior history except maybe a new water pump but after looking at it, it doesn't look new. The car ran fine but the CEL would come on and sometimes stay on. I scanned it a few times and always got a code 214. I was at my garage today doing some suspension work to it and I decided to eliminate the DIS by swapping it with my 95 SHO that runs perfectly with no CEL. After I installed it my 94 almost wouldn't start and when it did the tach was at 0 rpm (which it never did before) and the CEL came on right away but then the tach would return to normal with a CEL. After scanning it I now get a code 212 and 214. I know the DIS is good and I checked the connections and made sure the bolts were all tight. I am thinking maybe I have a short somewhere but why all of a sudden the code 212? Crank sensor maybe?

After doing a little research and actually seeing some of my own advice in other posts, (I must have been drunk when responding to peolpe) I am thinking it might be a bad cam sensor. Still not sure why messing with DIS caused the 212 code though.
