hello I'm new to this form and would like to see if someone could help me with this issue.
I have a 2013 SHO with the performance package with under 63k on it. With in the last 6 months it has been to the Ford Shop three times (one of those times is right now) for starting issues. The first time they said they replaced the fuel pump. The next time they said they replaced the fuel pump because of a short in the wire that caused the pump to burn out. Has anybody else seen this issue in a similar capacity? Please also note I only put high-end super unleaded in the vehicle

Sorry to hear of the issues, Bill. Do you know if they pulled any codes from the PCM, or how they determined what was at fault? If it IS a fuel pump issue, it could also be a Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) issue.

Can you describe in more detail exactly what the starting issues/symptoms were? Would it crank but not start? Would it not crank at all? Did it smell of fuel when it did start? ...

Also, how old is the battery on your SHO? If it is original to the car, I would replace it immediately, and with a higher CCA-rated one, like the Motorcraft Tough Max 850, or even better an AGM battery.

SHOdded thanks that was Quick.
They ran a EEC test the first time and found that no pressure was getting too the pump.
The same issues so happy now where it will turn over but sounds like it's getting no gas to the engine. If I continue attempting to start the engine you get a small aroma of fuel. Would The battery issue cause the burnt wire issue. Either way when I get it back I will be installing a brand-new battery. Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what would have caused the burnt wire issue. Most likely some of the shielding rubbed off the wire, or there was too much of a power draw (maybe the failing fuel pump) causing the wire to overheat and short. More likely to happen if the wire is not protected by a fuse or breaker of some sort. BTW, which fuel pump was replaced, the one in the tank (low pressure) or the one atop the engine (high pressure)?

The crankshaft position sensor is another likely culprit. What RPMs does the tach show while cranking?

Control systems in cars today are very demanding of batteries. Can you have the shop confirm that the alternator is working properly? If the problem still persists after you get the SHO back, a new battery would be a good place to start.

After further review of all paperwork regarding past services I noticed the paperwork indicated "fuel pump driver module " one the first service then on the next one with the burnt wire it said " fuel pump module ". That is all I know there is no parts numbers on the invoices because all have been under warranty.

They just called me telling me that they are going to replace the fuel pump once more!
I told him that they need to do some more diag on the car because the last two time within 6 months they replaced the pump. He act like that was the first he heard that. And this is a Ford Service Center.

SHOdded and Sgtmeatsauce1 thanks for the replies.

Ok I got it back from the shop and they told me that they replaced the Pump and the Connector.

Here is what was on the report:

“Performed PCM Self-Test and found DTC P0627.

Performed pinpoint test KC1 through KC13 and found that terminal 5 in

Connector C3127 circuit CE515 TE-GY has high resistance and is burnt

And damaged the connector and the fuel pump module. Necessary to

Replace connector C3127 and also replace the fuel pump assembly and

o-ring. Cleared all DCTs and Retest is ok.

Please also note I don’t think this location is doing their job right because in the report under “Complimentary Multipoint Inspection” it said “Your tires will need attention soon.”

I just got theses tires 10K miles and had them rotated 5K like I do every 5K and just did the last one two weeks before it had to go into the shop.

I think I need to fine another shop.
