Hello Everyone,

My Taurus SHO is about to turn over 100k and it's been a great car. Aside of changing the oil and driving her I haven't done anything to her. I was wondering what advice you guys could give me on plugs and fluids and anything else you think would be worth directing my attention to. I was also considering upgrading the brakes and shocks considering they are worn and wondering what brands are good on the these cars. I have also read about ptu and rtu fluids and I'm not sure what that means. I'm a big truck guy and this is my first forced induction vehicle and car at that so I'm just looking for some tips on taking care of it.

Thanks Zach

Go by the recommended fluids in the owner's manual. Do the plugs (Motorcraft SP534), trans fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, PTU/RDU gear oils, and coolant with Motorcraft/Castrol/Valvoline brands at a bare minimum. You can step up the game with high performance brands like Amsoil/Royal Purple/Motul etc.

Check plug boots for signs of oil seepage, that would indicate valve cover seals need to be replaced.

Check all piping to make sure it's clamped on tightly and hasn't split anywhere. Check intake piping for oil pooling.

Check the intercooler to make sure there's no crud accumulated in it. If there is, pump it out.

Put on new tires :) Your choice will depend on location & driving style.

Check struts & shock absorbers for any sign of fluid seepage.
