1. My car is not starting but when I pop the clutch, it'll start and run. I checked the battery, battery post, starter and the starter button on side of the firewall and everything checks out fine. I need help with this issue and fast. lol

2. I changed my heater core earlier this year around February and my window is fogging up. Please tell me this isn't so.

....and my battery light is flickering. Does this have something to do with my starting system...maybe?

Battery light flickering is either the belt too loose or the alternator is on its way out. Usually its the little rectifier diodes but could be the bearing seizing up...Have you tried banging on the starter with a flashlight to see if that helps? I had an issue with my starter and tapped it with a flashlight and it started right up. Either that or you have a bad connection on the starter or batt

I got that alternator a couple of months ago going three.

With the starter, I think its a connection issue but I'm interested in what some of the other experts says.

my experience on these cars is that by the time the alternator light flickers, the alternator is dead, the battery voltage is around 10, and the car will not start. I'd get the alternator checked first and expect to buy a new/rebuilt one.

rebuilt/reman alts are of dubious quality. Check the wiring first but I wouldn't feel secure with a 'new' alternator. Been there too many times.

Why am I going thru so many alternators? I checked my voltage last nite, and it was around 8. You think that could be causing my no starting issue?

And whats up with this heater core? Are they known to fell so soon?

Maybe maybe not. Alot of alt's are bad from any of the stores. Many years back on my genI, I think I went through 4 before I got a 5th that worked properly. Long time parts employees will tell you that those and starters frequently come back.

Your battery is dead. You need a new battery. A good battery will stay above 12 volts. When the car is running you should measure a charging voltage of around 14 volts across the battery terminals.

So you're saying yes thats why it won't start? I need to be sure it's not the starter or anything else.

dude, a battery at 8 volts will not start your car. period.

you need to charge that battery with a battery charger, because if you put a new alternator on and jump the car and make the alternator charge up that sick battery, you will toast the new alternator and it will die a premature death. the alternator is not made to completely charge the battery, only to keep it charged.

do yourself a favor, charge the battery on a battery charger, then take it to the auto parts store and have it tested to make sure its still good. the battery may be bad, which makes the alternator work harder and then causes the alternators to fail prematurely.

Ok y'all... I've changed the alternator and the flickering stopped, of course. But it's still clicking when trying to start. I took the starter off again and noticed that the bracket thats on the back, was stuck to the wire terminal because I put it on the wrong way. I think it shorted the starting circuit out. I put everything back on there correctly and its still clicking. IDK what else...

Found oit why it wasn't starting, the battery cable connectors wasn't getting good connection. Fords are known to have this little problem my mechanic told me. So its fix!
But why Haven't I gotten aany response on the heater core issue? I still need help with this one.

My window fogs up too, but it's because I have a leaky oil pan gasket.

It's dripping onto the CAT (well, the pipe that used to have a CAT:evilgrin:) and smoking INTO the car via the dash:frantic:. Horrible thing I tell you.

You might have the same problem...........

It could be because I see just a hint of smoke coming from my hood...just a little.
