Thats quite a bit of oil consumption, It could be the valve seals. Or an oil leak you are not seeing.

Could also be massive blow by due to carbon packing behind the rings. Short of a rebuild or motor exchange try this.

Get two bottles of Auto-RX and use them over a 5k mile interval. First one go 1500 miles, second one 3500 miles. Use a dino oil when you do this. Follow with Castrol Hi Mileage oil.

My '93 was that bad and with the above treatment the car was down to less that a quart every 2k and improving.

I'm going to try the Auto-RX Treatment as well. I purchased my SHO w/ 112k on the clock and it was leaking oil everywhere. I figured that contributed to consuming 1qt every 500 miles. Now that I have replaced every seal on the motor and still getting 500 miles per 1qt, I need to atleast try the AutoRX Treatment - Ordered it today, we shall see :)

I changed my driving style (lowered rpm's), had more longer trips and now it's 1Q per 1000 miles, not bad? (don't drive 135mph on 4 gear  it's 7400rpm!). And yes Rx it's good idea I'll go for it, 1Q/1K it's still :bonk:

you can try adding some lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer, might help, might not, but worth the try.

The oil consumption went from 1qt/1500 to 5gallons of oil in 2000mi. This is not ********.This change occured over a 2400 mi road trip. 1500mi into this trip I noticed the level down almost 2qts. I check the level every other tank fill. Not running hot, still runs quiet, and does not leak a drop of oil ever. Its coming out the pipe. This car as long as I'v owned it 30000mi. I am the second owner. Has never been driven hard by me.
I'v never seen 90mph. The car has been maintained very well, I averaged 28.7mpg on that last trip. The LAST trip! The car still starts fine, runs smooth & seems strong still.

I'm baffeled - I ran auto RX w/ Castrol 10W30 Dino Oil for 1000 miles, changed oil and Filter and am now on 2nd go around w/ Castrol 10W30 and AutoRX. The motor doesn't leak any oil, but it sure likes to consume it!

make certain your PCV system is working order. I had a plugged PDV line a while back, and the motor was DRINKING oil (1 qt every 5-800 miles), as well as blowing it out brand new plug well seals. Cleared up the lines, and the orifices in the throttle body, and consumption back to normal. Just about 1/2 qt every 3k.
