Dudes...I wrecked my 97. Found a 98 with a blown motor. Transferred my 97 engine and tranny into the 98. (had it done....I am NOT a mechanic!) All was well for months....then one day it would crank but no start. Towed it to a shop and was told the PCM went bad. Ordered refabbed PCM from Cardone. Local shop was having problems so I finally towed it to Ford. They installed the PCM and did whatever programming was needed. They suspected that the reason the PCM went bad was because transmission fluid was leaking into the internal wiring harness switch. They were goiing to charge me 1K to fix. I know a guy runs a transmission shop he said he'd to it for 500. Ford told me I'd be fine to drive it 25 miles to the shop. I did that. Next day they tried to fire up the car and it wouldn't start. PCM is bad....again! I just spent 800 at Ford. Was gonna spend another 500 at transmission shop but now I'm back to ground zero.
Anybody ever heard of this kind of thing??
I LOVE this car. EVERYTHING works. but now it's a frigging door stop. I have no idea what it's worth not running but the engine, cd player, moon roof, transmission....everything is fine. good looking car. I don't know what to do.
