1995 ATX: Rough 1st gear shift + whining noise

3 days ago my 1995 ATX (213k miles) started shifting into 1st gear really hard. So when I shift from Park to Drive, as the car goes into 1st it bumps and makes a hard noise. When I'm in Drive and I'm coming to a stop, the shift from 2nd into 1st makes a noise and a slight bump.

Everything else seems fine. No hard shifting or grinding noises. Once I get going, things are cool. I also check my auto trans fluid, its level is fine.



1 day ago I started hearing this noise... (sorry about the poor lighting, but I think you guys can figure out the general area the noise is coming from)

When I put the car in gear it stops. When the car is in Park or Neutral, it makes this.

I would try pulling the trans pan out. Maybe the filter came loose or is clogged, not letting enough fluid into the trans?

Just an idea.
