I've got a 93 gen 2 SHO with a automatic transmission and the car doesn't seem to want to shift past 2nd. I pretty much have assumed that the transmission is screwed but I guess before tearing it out I wanted to check with fellow SHO owners to see if maybe its something else? If I am correct on the transmission being scrap where is the best place to locate a replacement or is a guy better off pulling it and rebuilding it? I'd like to fix it cause the car has been in my life now for almost 13 years and it was my dads originally. Thanks in advance for any help and have a good day!

How many miles are on the tranny? Did you pull your tranny codes?

If you look on this forum, the 93 transmission were weaker than the later Gen 2 years. However, I also met a member (Noslo) who had over 250K miles on his original 93 ATX tranny. I just had my 94 ATX tranny rebuilt for the second (and last time) time this past summer. The rebuilder took a little while to find the parts needed for a rebuild. The Shosource site list rebuilt ATX transmissions if you end up needing another one.

How do you pull tranny codes? And 200,000 the car has on it and since we’ve had it it hasn’t been replaced and it only had one owner before that so I’m not sure if they ever had it replaced or anything. Thanks in advance
