1993 Taurus SHO- 3.2 Liter Yamaha engine, 4 speed automatic transmission
~143,000 miles
The good:
-Freshly rebuilt transmission with trans-go shift kit, lubrication mods and ax4x rear hub and sun shell (less than 1000 miles)
(note: this trans shifts a little harder than a stock unit- doesn't have the mushy Ford 1-2 shift)
-new front brake pads, all four rotors turned
-new right front wheel bearing
-new steel brake lines to rear
-lots of maintenance done by previous owner ( I have a stack of reciepts)
-this car has every option available in 1993-power everything, sunroof, full leather, cd, premium sound (with sub) remote keyless entry, autolamps
-4 matching tires with about half life left
-car has been undercoated at some point, so underside is really solid
-aftermarket white-faced guages-can change between blues and greens at night
The not so good:
-Has some minor rust starting on both rear wheel wells and trunk lid, as well as under the bottom of the doors and rear doglegs. It's not that bad for being a rustbelt car, but it's definately not rust free
-trim ring around ignition key broken off- everything still 100% functional
-door ajar light stays on sometimes... I believe it is the driver's door ajar switch
-one of the rear speakers is blown
-fuel door release tab broken on fuel door
-fog lamps don't work- relay is clicking, but no power going out of relay to lights... replaced relay with same result... ???
-EATC (climate control unit) buttons cracked... have a hardbutton unit that could be worked into the deal...
-A/C only holds a charge for 3 days, has a leak in the system somewhere
-exhaust is loud-has aftermarket dynomax exhaust system and the mufflers are rusted out
-I extensively cleaned interior and driver's seat still looks a bit dingy.... if you are a leather cleaning expert, maybe you could get it clean again...
-sunroof shade cloth overlay coming off-common on the slotted shades
-has Italian directional slicers up front and Canadian non-directional slicers on the rear. Right rear has lots of caked on brake dust on the inside, and probably needs some chemical cleaners to get it off. To the untrained eye, all wheels match-- all white slicers
-slave CD takes awhile to load sometimes and makes clicking noises, but always works
-car is 16 years old, and has some small scratches, blemishes, etc. I'd say above average for the year, but you can come look at it and see for yourself.
-update..... started the car after sitting for a month and battery was too weak to start it. A jump from the ****** fired it right up and I let it run a bit. Probably could use a battery soon! (windchill has been below zero the last few days)
For what this car is, it's in really good shape. I bought this a year and a half ago and didn't get the title until recently. I planned on driving it then, but now I don't have a need for it anymore. I'm looking for someone that can hopefully appreciate this car and get many years of enjoyment out of it. I will answer any questions you have on this car, and I urge you to come see it in person to see for yourself how nice this car is. I also have a d4U1 that I've been meaning to swap in that can be working into the deal as well.
I would also be willing to trade for a rust free Gen 1, preferably white.
I've been trying to sell the car locally for awhile, and haven't had much luck. I feel the car is easily worth $2000 with the beefed up trans (it would cost more than that to get one built and put in). My price right now is down to $1700 or best reasonable offer.
Special Christmas Price $1200! Limited time offer!
Please, won't someone give this car a good home? I hate to see it sit in my driveway and not get driven. If you need more information or pictures, or have a rust free Gen 1 I might be interested in, send me a PM. Thanks for looking!
