ive got a 1993 white atx sho, 3.2liter all that good stuff. i have had so much work done to it, i posted a long while back with problems and yal gave em the solution lol thnx much so i appreciate all replies. but when i drive and it shifts its not wantin to shift when it should it wants to ride to around 4k rpms then shift and you can feel it slippin a bit during shift , power wise. if you put your foot in ot like i did about a week ago once i got it back (it has never been really dawged, just ran hard every now and again to blow trash, carbon build up, etc...) been in family since bought from ford in 93, but i bought it 3 1/2 years ago cause my dad got paralyzed and hes got every paper needed from tune ups to work done so its well taken care of. but its like shes wanting to give up now.the motor runs trong as ****, the whole top end has litteraqlly been rebuilt in last year. we have our own little garage for working on cars cuse thats my hobby but she is soethiinng else, quite challenge and hard to figure out. but like i said when shifting its loose in first unless you hit it and you can feel it slipping, my friend has 94 mtx and when his clutch was going when he hit it you could feel the motor going but the cluch losing grip thats how it feels. i hear it could be a torque converter or either its the hard prts. idk i dont have time to just sit and look lol.

PROBLEM #2:when i crank it, it drives fine. sounds fine, but when i havedriven for ten minutes give or take, long enuff to warm up. i go from driving to stop at the light and it like tries to shut off it idles low batt. light comes on when iding low then idles high, up, down, up, and down if ya get the what i mean. so i have to touchthe gas a second with brake then it quits til i go and stop again. also i noticed when at idle in park or neutral it does it, not trying to die but idling up and down enough t hear not see on stock rpm gauge...... 132,655 miles. looks brand new inside and out motor as well. so idk. please replyif you have had this problem or nething like it, or even an idea cause i will check it. thnx much.

The bad idle could be caused by a few things. I would clean the MAF sensor and the IAB/IAC and go from there. It could be a bad MAF sensor. If after you spray cleaned the filaments it doesn't improve, disconnect it and see if it runs better. If it's better unplugged then you have a bad sensor. A TB sensor could be going bad. A bad alternator or ground can make the car run all kinds of funny too. Oh yeah..make sure you have good plugs and wires.

As for the tranny...well it's likely on its way out. The 93 ATX is the weakest of the autos made. It just might be time for a quality rebuild.

Yeah that transmission is going out, Doug Lewis is out that way... and know's them pretty good, and I'd put a D4U1 in there just to firm up the shifts, after the transmission get rebuilt! I wish you good lucks!

Your second problem could be a converter that's burnt inside and locking up irradically. I'm no SHO expert, but have had simuliar issues with aod stang. I'm wondering if it worth while doing atx to mtx swap, my trans has been serviced and still shifts fine. I can still remember mtx road tests in '95 SHO's at ford, blazing tires in 3rd to 7000rpm.

95 silver frost 99k dd keeping atx so wife can drive I guess
