Does anybody know what exactly is needed to install a 3.2 engine in a 1992 3.0 mtx? I'm going to buy a remanufactured motor. Just want to see if it's feasible.

Have you tried using the search feature yet? Most of the information you're looking for is probably already on here you just have to find it.

But from what I've heard the most straightforward way to it is to strip everything down to a short block then swap in a 3.2 short block and rebuild with 3.0 parts

the best way is to take a 3.2 and do one of either two things

put stock 3.0 heads on it

leave the 3.2 heads and put in 3.0 cams

of course you could always leave the 3.2 cams as well, but most(including me) option for the 3.0 cams

if you keep the 3.2 heads they will need to be ground off slightly where the altenator goes.

other then that you need to bolt as many 3.0 items onto the 3.2 as you can.

some things that work both ways, and the 3.2 stuff is better are the injectors and oil pump.

other then that, you NEED ATLEAST all this stuff on your motor, in the 3.0 MTX setup

-mounts
-timing belt setup(crank pulley, timing belt, tensioner, covers)
-power steering pump bracket
-mount brackets(there are brackets for the motor that accessories or mounts bolt to, all that stuff needs to be 3.0)

-exhaust manifolds
-intake manifold
-y pipe
-flywheel
-water pump
-altenator(Compressor and power steering pump are the same MTX to ATX, except the PS Pump has a different pulley, which can be used on the MTX application, even though it has more grooves, it sort of underdrives it I believe)
-two belt tensioners/brackets
-the 2 belts
-oil pan(oil pan pickup tube might be different as well)

you will use the MTX wiring harness/computer

that is really about all of it.

by doing it this way you can make it a bolt-in modification.(**** of a bolt on-lots of bolts! lol) You will not need to cut anything, grind anything(unless u want to reuse 3.2 heads, which is what I have, not a big deal at all!) no splicing wires, no welding, if you have a spare MTX engine setup right next to it to swap over all the stuff, its easy.

you need to think about it with the mentality of you are using the 3.2 short block... that is the pistons/rods/crank/block/oil pump and everything else is from a 3.0......

you can switch everything over from engine to engine in a day with hand tools if they are both out of the car and on stands or something. If you can pull a SHO engine out of your car you pretty much have the capability to do this swap.
