Did some searching - seems like consensus is stating to go w/ 38mm offset for this size wheel.... But who have sucessful run this size wheel w/ 235/40R18 tires w/o rubbing (fender or struts) issues on a GEN II

That's a very short sidewall, are you sure those tires will work properly on that size rim? About the offset,, since the strut tube angles away from the wheel, there is more rear clearance on the bigger 18" wheels. I would try to go with the larger offset to pull the tires in and away from the fenders. Better get some measurements, and be sure to check down low where the tire will be near the rear tension strut.

It's pretty close to an 8" wide wheel at 35mm, so I would think you'd be fine.

As for tires, that's pretty close to the size you'd need. I would say you should be all right with that combo. Sorry, I'd break out my number crunchers but my brain is off right now. :bonk:

i have 18x8 with a 40mm offset. Since the car is drop it will slightly rub in the rear when you hit some bumps hard but this is because i went with a tire that is 245/40 18. If you have not lowered your car, you should be fine with 18x7.5 and 235/40R18 tires. :thumb:

The tire rack is recommending against going 18" wheels & 235/40R18 tires. Due to weight of the vehicle, they suggested using 45 series tires - which will be better able to carry the load. Going w/ 45 series tires on an 18" wheel and with the car being lowered in the future w/ eibachs... Will I have a rubbing issue  What if I still stuck w/ the original plan of 40 series tires

I had the Eibachs installed when i got my Koni inserts installed, and did not notice a slight drop on the vehicle. Thats why i switched to the intrax springs even with those after a break in period only lowered the car about 1/2 inch. So i cut one of the coils on the springs .... and now looks much better take a look of my sig pic below!

So you should have no problems with that combination since the eibachs are not really going to lower your car much.

I still have the eibach springs ... anybody interested? About 1000 miles onthem ... still new!

Nice car! BTW, how heavy is your car now? It seems like you're running 40 series tires. I've seen some people run this low-profile tires, but most of them don't have a large audio system. My system weighs 300+ lbs  , so I'm not too sure if the 40 series tires would be safe. How wide of a tire do you use - I thought you didn't need to trim fenders if you're using 235 or less

I got a question while everyones talking about rims I have 17x7.5 with 40 or 42 mm offset. My tires are 235/45-wr17. I'm putting eibach springs and tokio(cn't spl) struts. Will these tires rub??????????????

I'm also running a 18x8 w/ 40 offset and a 245/40-18 I did put in a very thin spacer (between a 1/16 to 1/8 in) in the rear to move it away from the strut and rolled the rear fender lips in more but it was all very minor. And (I am bias here) they look great and handle even better than they look. :****:

I dont have a system on it yet but i will soon ... i would say it would be around 200lbs. But i had 3 people in the car including myself (around 600lbs) and really no problems. 40 series tires is not like a "rubber band" type tire, im just saying that it has some meat on it.

blue thunder you may have fitment problems if it's a GenI car. My 17x7.5 with 40 or 42 offset rubbed badly and the fender rolling I did needed a little more work to look better. I'm dumping the car though so no big deal now. :bonk:

Hello all, I'm currently looking at a set of 18x7.5 wheels, 38 offset, with 245/40/18s.. On a 92 (which I already trimmed inner fender lips), will I be okay as far as rubbing, or would a 235/40/18 be better? I'd like to go with as big of a tire as I can get, as I am in New England Afterall.. :bonk:
