I know the whole aftermarket wheel and offset question has been worn out but I am looking for opinions. I have found a set of 18x8 wheels with a 40mm offset. Do you think these would fit on a Gen I car with anywhere from a 225 width tire to a 235 or even 245. I know the rear fender lips will need to be trimmed and my other concern is that it has the first generation ShoShop springs that dropped the car considerably more than advertised. Thanks for any info or personal experiences.

I don't know about 245 width, but if you are already rolling the lip for the wheel, the 235 should fit without problems. I saw a GEN I that had 8" wide wheels, rolled lips and 245 before, so you should be good.

Only problem I would see is your rear fender, because I have 18x8 40mm & 235mm tires with no fitment probelm. But you have the lip problem solved already so happy 18" pimping thumbs_u .
