Installed last week.

Also had my tune adjusted to throw fans on at 190 degrees. Removed the blanketed & foiled under belly pan & dumped in a bottle of Royal Purple's "Purple Ice" coolant additive as an added level of comfort.

I'm happy to report that the car seems much more responsive, especially on the lower end of the power band.

Throttle response seems much crisper. The needle on the gauge indicates she's running a lil cooler as well. No DTC's thrown either :thumb:

I did notice that the factory t-stat is a 180 and the housing on the one supplied by Unleashed also shows a 180 stamping.

Confused, I placed an inquiry and was told that the motor/housing is a 180, however the spring was swapped out and replaced with a different spring that opens it up at 170 degrees.

Hope this is of some help to any of you that may be on the fence about get'n this item for your SHO.

Like the idea of adjusting to a lower fan on temp thru the 'tune' - (I'll have to talk to Rick on that one) -- and the coolant treatment I use is Water Wetter by Redline -- I've not used (or seen) the Royal Purple product and wonder how it compares.
Easy enough to find online no doubt, just not seen it up here.

Interesting what I've gleaned over the last 6 months on our SHO's engine running so hot with high underhood temps:

I'm guessing that it's intentional for pollution control and gas mileage but also wondering if front clip design/underhood airflow may be suspect due to the turbos' heat. (yes there has been comments on that in various threads)
I have toyed with the idea of turbo heat shields but am concerned with overcooking the turbos in the process.

and finally -- still no freakin' car to 'play' with.

I asked Torrie about removing the underbelly pan, as I felt it was not allowing the engine bay to breathe when at the strip. He told me to put it back for aero reasons. So... it has been in place during all strip trips, except the first, which was on Oct 1, 2010.

There may be other reasons to keep it in place, such as it reduces or eliminates water spraying on turbos when road is wet. Also keeps hot turbo's and cats from starting plant debris on fire!

Servicing Coolant system properly

I am new to the forum, just got my 2011 red candy SHO a week ago. Have modded it with a Livernois tune, H&R springs and AiRaid CAI, and corsa cat back exhuast.

I just wanted to mention that the service manual points out that to properly service the coolant system you need to use a vacuum lift tool to keep a permanent air bubble out of the turbo cooling/heater core circuit. Has any one come across this yet while re-servicing your system after breaking it?
