This is my plan for the new to me 2015 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost AWD with 81k miles. I purchased this car after it ran over a dead deer, the Ford Body Shop had her 95% of the way to fixed when the insurance company decided to ‘total’ the car. I got a pretty good deal on her at auction and my plan is to finish the bit of remaining work, use as my daily driver and improve as I go. I am putting this here for review and suggestions as well as to track my progress!

20220127 130213 s

Already done:
4 Wheel Alignment & Rotate Tires
Oil Change - Synthetic (used Wix Filter out of necessity)
Coolant was new with the new Radiator

Ford Dealer Appointment:
Crash Warning - On Startup
Adaptive Cruise Control - No Cruise Control At All
BG - Power Flush of Trans - TPU - RDU - Hopefully fill with Amsoil or Redline
Inspect Around Water Pump For Any Leaks
Seat air filter FS-104 & Cabin air filter FP68 - I cant find them anywhere

This Week:
Install K&N Drop In Air Filter
Clean Battery & Terminals
Titan (USA) Wiper Blades
Deep Clean & Detail
Add Weather Tech Floor Mats
Paint Correction
Ceramic

Next Week:
Install UPR Catch Can
GearHead Motorcraft CX2594 3BAR MAP, Motorcraft plugs at 0.028, & 170 degree thermostat
GerHead AO Tune - SCT x4
Log for GH to Review Engine Health
Anthony Trans Mounts

And then…
My plan is to enjoy the car as I improve cooling all the way through. I will stick to this order unless someone sees a fatal flaw, parts are simply not available or something breaks.

Step 1 - I think the GH Intercooler and EPP Hot Pipes should be high on the list and easier to install together.

Step 2 - I'm planning to throw all of the PP cooling at this via Schwartz Packages for the Trans, Oil Cooler and PTU (with drain installed)

Step 3 - PPE Catted Up Pipes as well as 3rd Cat & Resonator Delete. For now I am thinking about a H-Pipe, MagnaFlow Resonator and MRT Mufflers. I hate buzzy import sounds and drone so this will require much more research.

Step 4 - Phenolic Spacers & Meth Injection. I am most interested in Meth for the cooling and cleaning properties. However, I have exactly ONE e85 station within 80+ miles of my house and even that is 20 miles away. I understand the e30 would be amazing but I dont see how it would ever work for a daily driver in the Ozarks. So I may explore using a 50/50 Direct Port Injection Meth system such as Pro-Meth or Aquamist for power, cooling and cleaning.

As Needed -
When I need to do tires I will be going with the lightest decent looking 20x9 (or 9.5) +35 wheels I can find. Currently American Racing AR-924 in Gray are winning but I really don't think they will match this silvery tan (Luxe Metallic) MKS. I am VERY open to suggestions here. The wheels will be wrapped in Continental DSW06 Plus -275/40/20 tires (don't tell my sister who is an engineer at Michelin LOL)

HAR9249 1024x958

When it's time for brakes I will be doing the Schwartz Wilwood 4 Piston Super-Light Upgrade and Whiteline Rear Bar at the same time.

If the Turbos go then Ill be doing GH Turbos with the EPP Dual Intake.

Now one big question… is there EVER a case to be made for doing the Water Pump & Timing Chain preemptively?

Im not scared of the truth so hit me with it!

I got bent over by Lewis Ford to the tune of ~$3500 to have my pump, chain, etc. done. It was throwing a CEL but otherwise ran fine.

Sounds like you have it pretty well on track for mods.

I have actually been considering the preemptive water pump timing chain job. I feel after a hundred K you’re on borrowed time. I really don’t want to hurt anything else if/when the pump decides to quit.

Cabin Filter (FP68 and many other brands) can be found at Rockauto. Seat air filter (FS-104) was superseded to FS-106. This has no filtering properties and is just a plastic grill. Walmart has some of the filter style listed online. However, it is the very fine mesh filter and not the original thicker material. I found a forum about a year ago that mentioned a Land Rover part # that fit in our car. They were much more expensive though.

If you don't like buzzy sounding engines, then I would rethink your exhaust. Most will agree that the 3.5 EB sounds like crap. Catted DP's, and the Magna Flow resonator are good choices, but the MRT mufflers that I have heard online sound like crap and others report drone. Might want to re-think it.

I have PPE Catted DP's and a Magna Flow resonator that leads into the stock mufflers. My SHO is pretty quiet, however you get a tiny bit of turbo noise. The biggest and best sound mod for our cars (sound inside the cabin) are from the Anthony Torque Mounts. It sounds weird, but when you install them, you will understand my comment.

Starting on post 369 here is the bulk of how it was put together.

My Magnaflow Resonator/Muffler came from an actual MF SHO cat back . It is a long story how I got it, but this Magnaflow Resonator/Muffler can be used to similar effect.

Nice buy! How did the undercarriage look when you got it? How did you find out that the repairs were mostly done, was this before auction or afterwards?

It was listed with 'undercarriage damage' and I looked everywhere. I found clean paint on bumpers, a few newer looking parts and the tell tale wax numbers on the engine cradle. I ran the carfax and saw it was a local one owner, a 70 year old guy and always serviced regularly. I gambled and I think it turned out ok. Once I got her up on a lift the only thing I saw obviously was a loose track bar mount on the rear. I did track down the previous owner and he sent me the bill that insurance paid for $12.5k. After the body shop did that work they tried to revise the estimate and add something else, he though maybe steering rack. Evidently that work would have put it over their threshold so instead of paying a few extra hundred they declared her totaled and sent to auction. The accident was Nov 1st, shop had it for a couple months and it went to auction on Jan 11th... with no reserve. I won it on the first go round on Jan 25th.

It did need the alignment but steers fine lock to lock. I might get some throbbing on a quick bumpy corner but Im not sure if that is jsut the way the car handles or if the steering rack is going.

Dude is on it with shipping too! I had mine shipped within a couple hours of messaging him, literally. Installed on my car within 48 hours. I have had them on both of my SHO.

Awesome! Look forward on following this! So there most have been some pretty bad under carriage damage if they decided to total it.

I've been watching for a good buy on a totalled f150 to possibly do a drivetrain swap into my CJ-7. Every time I see a biohazard sticker on a window I wonder what I might be getting myself into.

Let me know when your ready to add the Performance Package parts to your MKS and we can get that order going. Also I do still have a brand new in original packaging and box never used Alky Meth injection kit for the SHO for sale. I'm looking for $625 shipped if your interested, alot of the big players in this platform run this kit.

I once bought a non running Focus EV that was marked biohazard. Upon pick up there was blood partly on front seats, 2 holes in roof and a pool of dried blood in rear floor. The key was not there that’s why listed non runner. I towed it to locksmith on trailer who made a key and found out batttery was 0 then took it to my mechanic who refused to do anything while it had the gore in it. I was able to drive it off trailer and park it with 0 range and debated on cleaning it myself but after looking around it realized what looked like fish scales was small bits of dried brain matter so I paid $600 for EPA biohazard cleanup in his driveway and bought charging cord off of EBay and crossed my fingers and it did charge up to 75 miles and he fixed the roof. The only thing that spooked me was going through the personal belongings in it (found a box of rifle shells on rear seat) and realizing what had happened. I found out then that it is not that rare for multiple shot suicides. I drove it for 6 months before selling it. I prolly would do it again.

Hello
I have a 2015 MKS as well. I have done the gearhead tune and put in a cold air intake from AF Dynamic. the 2014 & 2015 cold air intake for the SHO fits. ( even though it lists as not available for the MKS) No alterations are needed. You had mentioned Anthony Trans Mounts, what is the gain from putting those in over stock?

Thanks

Many different claims including less wheel spin/traction control issues, less wheel hop, smoother shifts, better 60' times, etc. A LOT of people swear by them.
