14 sec. possible?

I was at the track last night and my first run was absolutely terrible. I was so dissapointed that I went and waited in line for another two hours. I was very impressed with my car, but again dissapointed in myself. The first run I was so worried I roasted the tires and this run I bogged it down alot. After looking at my timeslip, with a better launch and R/T I believe I can get 14.8 or so. Tell me what ya think

I know the R/T is terrible but this was my first time at the track and I wasn't aware you were suppost to gun it when you see the last yellow. I will be going to Byron raceway sometime.... I will post the numbers, hopefully I can get it into the 14's. All I have is a y pipe.

Your trap speed shows that the car is making good power. I think that with a parfect run, you could get 14.8 out of it. The reaction time has nothing to do with the ET. You could wait another couple seconds to launch if you wanted to. If you drop half a second from the 60', you will have a 14 second car.

Definately, get that awful 2.7 60' down to a 2.2-2.3 and you will be in the 14's easily as long as you dont miss a shift

well according to this virtual engine calculator its saying you have 238 flywheel horsepower.... lol this dont mean shit but its kinda neat and fun to play with...
Area91 you have 393 flywheel horsepower according to this thing.. you should feel proud having almost 400 hp on a zex kit olny lol
by the way i put 3100 lbs gave the benifit of the doubt

That 60' is awfull. Trying revving up to 3.5K or so and slip the living crap out of the clutch out of the hole. Its what I did and I pulled off a 2.31 60' on Used front tires and a Busted front motor mount. It may not be the healthiest thing for the clutch tho

And FYI Your R/T has absolutely nothing to do with your ET, Its that 60' thats killin ya!

No, the time doesent start until your off the line. The only time a R/T matters is if your competitivly racing somone...wich I never do. You figure you have a 2.7 60' right now...get it down to a 2.2-2.3 You'd be good for a 15 flat/High 14 second pass, Easy.

Can't really tell. High 14s with a 2.1 - 2.2 60' time.

Go with 1500-2000 off the line, with a gentle clutch release. Keep the tires at normall preesure, lik ~35 psi.

Do a lot of runs. Practice makes perfect.

IMO, after 50+ practice runs, you will get there.

Good advice from my father.

Just act like ur at a stop light and wanna get ahead of the person. Dont drop the clutch. It rewarded me with 14.5@97+. Took about 7-9 times over 3 trips to the track. Practice is key, SHO's are not easy to launch

I think I am going to chain the front of my engine down in my 90. the engine is so wobbly it drives me crazy. even driving around town.

ive seen a 2.0 60 in my car before, wasnt my fastest e/t tho.

just remember that its front wheel drive. so when you dump the clutch all the weight lifts off the tires that matter unlike rwd.

Point is, be mindful of what you need to get the car going. This is why i use spring blocks.

last winter I installed shonut extreme mounts. I am not at all impressed. They are like jello. from day one they were never firm I felt like I wasted my money on them, and they were not exactly cheap.

I wish I could find out what was done to my front mount, it looks like black silicone smeared all over it..... the sucker doesn't break

i even broke my rear mount at the dragstrip and the front one keeps ticking along, I've put it through years of daily abuse... wish I knew what it is that is on the mount as I'd like to do that to my other ones.
