The problem with making a harness is the OEM plugs. The wire is much too small.

You could solder the wires directly to the bulb though. This would be the best along with two relays.

to those who have install a 100w harness, have you had a problem with reduced lamp life? if so, did a different brand of bulb last longer?

By allowing the full voltage to get to the bulb. Gas charged bulbs work best at full voltage.

But then again I can't remember the time I have replaced a headlight bulb in the last 10 years.

Yeah, and I'm thinkin that with the addition of that AARP card in your wallet things will only get worse - CRS Syndrome!! I obviously recognize all the symptoms, just can't remember the cure!!! :D

The weak points on the Gen 3 headlight wiring are the headlight switch, the Multifunction switch, the wire and the plugs. Most of the problems are caused by the small wire size.

Unless you can get a bigger wire on your headlight plug then you are not getting the full extent of a headlight harness upgrade.

For around $40 you will get heavier wire connected to the headlight plugs and two relays. No way will you get this for $10.00.

Sorry to mislead...I have spare relays which would make up the extent of the cost. Taking the existing headlamp plug and "gutting" it provides the housing for the new wiring. Getting the factory wire terminals are cheap, as is the heavy gauge wire. I would recommend 12-14 awg for this type of application. The markup on these "kits" is incredible to say the least.
