Believe me, I already know that quite well... Butsome fail anyway. However, WITH stock pistons, that IS the blowing point of the motor. Since that's what other guy has, it is relevant to him.

Well I was thinking that "project turbo granny sedan" wasn't pulling like she shoudl. So after taliking to several people it sounds like the internal wastegate its getting stuck half open. So tommorow I'm going to shut it totally and up the boost around 3-5 psi so hopefully she will pull like her old self again.

I'm just looking for the power I used to have when she would put 2nd gear up in a blaze of smoke and slam off of the rev limiter before you would have the time to let up off of the throttle. So I will keep you all posted how this goes.

Because as of now it is taking forever to spool the turbo, whick leads us to belive it is jamed half way open...

STAY TUNED FOR A DYNO UPDATE, when we start pushing the limits of the SHO motor with exclllant tuning!!!!!!!!!

Are you trying to blow it up? :oogle: Wired shut wastegate....

Uh, yeah wired shut wastegate is just asking to grenade the motor. If your wastegate is getting stuck open, pull the turbo and fix the internal wastegate or, better yet, bypass/remove the internal wastegate and use an external one.

And no I do not own a turbo sho, however I have experience with turbo mustangs so I know enough to feel like I can contribute something meaningful here. I've seen way too many DIY builds blow up because people were in a rush or cheaped out on the proper parts. The right thing to do here is wait and install a good external unit or fix/replace the sticky internal wastegate.

theres nothing wrong with the wastegate. You keep turning the adjustment rod the wrong way and making the waste gate half open. Dont wire it shut or the car will be sitting in you drive way broken

By the time he makes it to 3rd gear, there will probably be nothing but blow-by :)

by your sig pic you should be able to pop the hood and see if its stuck....yu may need to adjust the pre-load on the door....watch out by doing this you could up your boost by several psi

Spool a wastegate? You spool the turbo not the wastegate, the wastegate just opens when it hits a certain psi to prevent too much forced air from hitting the throttle body. What exactly are you asking here?

A BOV prevents too much forced air from slamming the TB and surging the compressor. A wastegate reroutes exhaust to keep the exhaust turbine from overspinning and self destructing/creating too much boost.

When the wastegate is open, your TB should be open (generally WOT).

I should have been clearer. The wastegate regulates the amount of forced air going into the tb/intake. Yes the BOV prevents too much forced air from slamming the tb when its closed but only when its closed. I'm sure you know what you're talking about I just made a confusing post.

this is something ive always wondered. can you use the BOV to vent at a certain psi like a wastegate? lets say i had a sc with a real small pulley making 17 or 18 psi, could i use the bov to bring it down to around 12? or does it only blow ALL boost out when the tb closes?

It opens up fully when it hits a certain preset psi and blows off all the pressure in the line to prevent a pressure spike that would damage the turbo.

Yes, that is what I do. It's called a safety pop-off valve. It's like a BOV, however, it pressurizes both sides of the diaphragm under boost and uses the (adjustable) spring pressure for determining when it will vent boost.

Actually, the wastegate regulates the amount of exhaust that goes through the exhaust turbine (which in turn, effects how fast the compressor side spins limiting boost the boost created).
