Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a compatible thermostat outlet pipe that goes directly to a 90deg elbow. The 6" length of the 3.2 stock outlet is too long for my Porsche 914 fit.

TIA,

I have been pondering the same thing, but why not cut it down, grind/smooth the ridge, and use a radiator hose with a 90 on it. (I work at a parts store, so its easy for me to say "find a hose") You may have more troubles finding one that will work.

biker,

That was going to be my last resort. I'm hopeful that there is a ford part out there that is the correct size from another engine. I'll swing by the Ford parts counter later this week.

Thanks.

How about miter cut the stock outlet and tig weld it back together at 90 degrees? Should be about a 1 hour job at a machine shop.

Bob,

That's an approach I hadn't considered. The bend wouldn't be smooth, but it shouldn't make that much difference. I'll keep that in mind.

Gary,

Thanks for the link. Hopefully I can find a cost-effective solution.

Tim,

That will still be too bulky for Gerard's application. He will have to re-locate the coil pack also, it's so tight in his car.

Yep,

Gotta go with the cut & weld. Ford parts guys can't cross-reference to save their lives. Bummer when your weak link becomes the database programmer.

Got it cut. Now I just have to get it down to the welders this week. At least I'm done with school - for a long time I hope!

OK, just for reference sake, here's the result of the cut & weld. Dan did a nice job. The finished part is just under 3.0 inches, and will get a 90deg hose.

(Sorry bout the fuzzy pic)
