Okay, here is the lowdown...
95ATX Green w/206k+ on clock... Possible original trans (have only had the car about 8 months now) so I don't know for sure..
Anyways, when cold I can roast the tires from a stop.. Once it's up to operating temp, I can't roast'em anymore..
Trans shifts fine between 1-2 when cold, after warm it is soft between 1-2 then slams the last little bit....
When cold on freeway I can get it to kick down from OD (4th) to 2nd @ 50MPH or less... when warm (operating temp) it kicks down to 3rd from 4th (OD to D) and won't go to 2nd until I manually shift it there or press the OD on/off button...
If I press the OD button for OD to be off, then it will kick down to second gear, but will stay there even with my foot off the gas until I turn OD back on... (light on dash = off)
One other thing is that occasionally the OD light will be on, on the dash indicating that the overdrive is turned off... I can't get the button to work until I shift it into gear and wait a few seconds...
I was told by Bickford Ford around here in Snohomish, WA that it sounded like the trans's internal oil pump...
Another shop that does trans's only said the same thing...
Is there a fix for the pump without ripping the whole mess out of the car?
Or should I just have a new trans installed? and if I have to get a new one, I want one that has all the updates and has been drilled for lubrication...
Any ideas??
I am going to have this car for many more years and miles and eventually will be supercharging her as she'll be one of my daily drivers...
TIA GUYS!!!!
