I purchased this car in Nov 2005 with the intent to resell.
It needed a clutch to be drivable.
It ran so well that I decided to keep it to drive occasionally.
I have never sold a SHO that I owned, until now.
I enjoy ‘restoring’ them as a side business.
I did no modifications to this car.
I bought this car with 86,965 miles, it now shows 88,149.
I am almost certain the odometer has turned, but it sure doesn’t drive like it.
I added directional slicers with Michelin 225/55/16’s with about ¾ tread remaining.
I just had the headliner recovered last week.
I will be completing the interior as weather permits.
The car has classic tags and is not meant to be driven daily thou once per week is acceptable.
Please note that this will decrease your insurance premium.
The classic tag is transferable to another PA buyer.
As mentioned, it has a new clutch, throw out bearing and rear main seal.
The 9.75” fly wheel was turned as well.
The sub frame mounts are fine and I did the recall on both rear mounts.
It also has a new timing belt and CPS.
As most know the leather seats tend to wear fast.
This car currently has Gen 2 gray cloth seats front and rear.
This was a southern car with no rust though.
It does show slight surface rust at the hood, trunk and door seams.
The dreaded rust prone area at the fuel tank is clear except for several small under paint bubbles.
Price to follow.
I will be adding more photos and details soon.
Here is a previous link showing the cars progress:

I'm looking for another '89, how much for that one?

By the way, how did you do the plastic bumpers and siding? Mine are all faded and ugly and using Back to Black doesn't help keep it shiny for more than a day.

SHO GoDz 89 - I use the same 3-step wax process on all painted surfaces, even the plastic ones.

I'm sure I'm like most others and wish the seller would list a price.
However I cannot at this time.
I need to tally what I have invested in it so far.
I should also note it will be available after May 1st.
And at that time I urge all prospective buyers to view in person if able.

I have to say, a post with no price is balogna... Sort of like all the feeler threads on the FS section of the VW sites LOL. It's an SHO, so unless you bought it extremely well, you will not get your money back out of it.

With cars you make your $$ when you buy them.

You have a price in your head. You know you do, just like every guy who's posted here. let's just start tossing numbers around shall we?

An '89, that looks nice in pics...with 186k on it you said? The odo had turned? Heck let's say it's original 86k.

$2000 if it's actually rust free and the paint is actually in that nice of shape. Having seen the other post I was very very impressed with your work on the cleaning, polishing and waxing.

See, $2000 sucks for you as you seem to have done quite a bit of maintenance on it.

I hope you get more for the car as it will mark an upswing in price on nice daily driven Gen Is.

Ill have to say Im with you on this about 95% I can see taking a little time to get a price in mind based on intrest. But there seem's to be alot of intrests so you think a price would of popp'ed up. Like you say there must be a price in mind.
I think your rite with the 2k range I would say between 2-2.5k If it does indeed have 8x,*** miles, But does have small amount of rust starting with no pictures of it. And that could greatly determin price.
I know I look at this thread everyday hoping for a price. Along with many others. I bet it could be sold by now honestly :thumb::thumb::salute:

Alright gang here is the price.
$2700 with the wheels and tires.
$2400 without and yes you would need to supply your own rolling stock.
I was reviewing what I had invested in this car and trying to lessen the cost.
And believe it or not I am not including any of my time spent.
I’m aware SHO’s are on the inexpensive side thus many may be appalled at my asking price.
Let me remind you again that the car will not be available until after May 1st.

I have a lot on my plate right now and am extremely busy.
And I was not expecting so many anxious possible buyers.
I apologize for the price delay but am dealing with a personal issue.
Not to go into great detail, but my 16 year old son will soon be taken away from his mother.
I have a court date coming up this month, need to get with an attorney and keep corresponding with Children & Youth.
My son has missed at least 32 days of school, and is having major conflicts with his mother.
And thanks to the court system favoring the mother and my ex’s wishes I have not seen him, or my two daughters in seven years.
Here is part of what C&Y states in their report:
“The child is without proper parental care or control, subsistence, education as required by law, or other care or control necessary for his/her physical, mental or emotional health or morals.”

And also note that I am typing this after midnight and the sleeping pill has not worked.
I also need to be aware that most on this forum are in their youth.
And there fore quick to judge and even sometimes condemn.

So there it is.
I put my heart out to all and spoke.

i understand where your coming from but kevin is a great guy.. excellent detailer and he takes a lot of care with his cars.. maintenance isnt a issue for him.

i have personally seen his cars on several occasions and he isnt the everyday type to drive something till it dies.. he is a great guy and wouldnt try and rip anyone off even with cars.. like most men cars are his passion.

with all that being said i feel anyone who ends up with this car will be lucky and have a great SHO. :salute:

100%. I wasn't being flip, I was just trying to toss a number out there for guys who kept asking where it's at. I have an exceptionally clean '89 that I got a great deal on so I have a good point of reference.

Regardless of how a car looks on the outside, it is the maintenance that can make or break a car like the SHO and it looks like this one has been taken car of.

I'm still sane and would like to thank all for your patience and thoughtfulness.
I noticed the interest weened after I posted the price.
Anyway... I got the car in position for work to start.
Of course I had to take it for a spin.
And she runs great, 1st pulled hard and I even got a chirp going into 2nd.
Weee...
Here are pics of the recovered headliner, moonroof cover and visors.

Don't budge on your price. That's a cherry first year SHO. Milage does not matter. When it comes to preserving these cars, rust is the only thing that matters.

$2700 is a good deal. It's an 89! If I didn't just buy the blown 92, I'd have contacted you already...and I'm in Michigan.

Remember...this is SHOForum.com....everyone already has one...so people are not looking to "invest" in SHOs.

I would put that on ww2.collectorcartrader.com for $4000 or more; "in restored condition, will deliver within *** miles for free".

It's 19.5 years old now, almost officially a classic.

What's the build date?
