When I start the car, coast to a light, wait for a light to turn green or anytime in general when I have the clutch pedal pushed in, my TOB has started making this horrid screeching sound. I believe it's because it's close to halloween and it's practicing it's best witch laugh, but I'm concerned there may be underlying issues. It's been making noise for the past year or so, basically a nice rattling noise when the clutch pedal's out. When I had my tranny replaced about 10k ago, the clutch was inspected and deemed in damn fine condition, though the TOB looked a lil worn. Could it finally be giving up the ghost (pun intended)?

Yes, in fact, it IS a Spec stage II. What difference does that make?

ANd I had the tranny out with about 15k on the clutch, but I didn't have enough money for the tranny AND a clutch at the time.

SPEC clutch kits have notoriously shotty throw-out bearings...

I know of two instances of them making noise in under 15k miles, and one of those instances of it being replaced in under 10k miles... and i know two people that have spec stage II kits... i used to as well, but thats another story

I'm having no problems at all with the clutch. It grabs nicely, and aside from chattering a bit when it's warm (i.e. traffic, hot days in traffic, etc), I'm truly happy with it.

So I guess i gotta yank it apart and replace the TOB before it shreds something else, huh/

Definitely, if its starting to make noise, its probably starting to seize, and if it does it will chew through the fingers on your PP pretty quickly.

If your budget permits it , I strongly recommand Josh's ceramic TOB. :thumb:

Ditto. If you buy Pressure plate + Clutch disk + Josh's ceramic TOB instead of a complete clutch kit in a box, then the premium for Josh's bearing is really pretty reasonable. Josh's TOB does include the sleeve if you happen to need a new one.
