Ive been working out the kinks on my 2010 and one of the last things is I get the "Check rear park aid" message and my bumper trunk release doesnt work even with the fob close by. I checked the plug under the bumper cover and it is clean. Any thoughts on where else to look? I would assume that since both are in the bumper they could have a common issue. I appreciate the help. My next step is tuning. Gotta read up here and do my homework first.

Do you happen to have any engine codes?
Also trunk release, do you mean the button over the license plate, or you just cant open the trunk at all?

Since you mention "bumper trunk release" in your first sentence I'll assume you're specifically referring to that one. Does the trunk release from the keyfob or the keypad on the driver's door pillar work to release the trunk to confirm that trunk release solenoid is getting power and ground?

If you look at this picture you'll see that your problem shares a connector. Both the trunk switch and the park aid sensors go thru C405. Check that connector for loose connection or corrosion.

Also, have you used a high end scanner or FORScan to check all the modules for codes?

All other means to open the trunk function normally. I don't have a high end scan tool to see those codes. I checked the connector in the bumper and it was clean. It was my thought too since it is the point where both systems meet

It sucks, but i'd recommend tracing wires, one may have broken

Download and install FORScan onto a Windows laptop. Purchase a vLinker FS cable. Read the DTCs in all modules. Otherwise, you are just guessing what the problem may be. FORScan is free to use for reading DTCs. For full function, a 1 year license is $12. vLinker FS cable is $35.
