Could be wheel bearingsgrowling gravely noise comes out of the back. anyone have this happen? still ironing out the kinks from the cars past life.
I checked them after I bought the car, tight as can be with no play, it also has/had a strange "clunk" coming from the back, everything is tight except the cv axles seem to have some play, but it's minimal and they also appear to be the last original piece under the rear end. I was thinking rotors or even abs but I don't get any pulsing in the pedal when it happens.Could be wheel bearings
I've had this clunk since mine was new to me and I've yet to figure it out. Checked everything without finding anything during my accumulated 180K miles. With 193+K on the clock, I'm still rolling strong.... it also has/had a strange "clunk" coming from the back, ...
You have no PP - the PP from 2013-18 has a toe link recall for unusual wear issues, then breakage.no play, it also has/had a strange "clunk" coming from the back,
What do you mean putting a floor in?hopefully putting a floor in the trunk.
I thought it was my spare tire or the spare tire well stealth box. My tire was properly secured to the box and the box to the car.@kryptto ill have to look into the toe links, according to my ratio code, the lack of PP on the window sticker and a standard leather wheel ive concluded its a non PP with 20" wheel option. Everything including the toe links looked new, most everything has a ford sticker on them still. Can never be too careful though so it's worth a second look
@LilCop2002 I'm glad im not the only one with a weird phantom clunk with no obvious reasoning. The dealer tried telling me it was the spare "bonus" rim that was in the trunk during the test drive. If I find something I'll be sure to update everyone.
@Ta2dResqr the trunk of my car has been an on going pet peeve of mine, one of the issues was the removable floor over the spare tire well is warped and caved. They added some aluminum bars (or maybe they're factory) to help support any weight in the trunk but they slide around and it's just annoying so I'm either using a road sign or a plank of plywood for a new floor under the carpet.
Velcro works good for trunk. I've got a sub in the right hand corner of mine that would end up pushing the carpet over so I ended up velcroing all the way around mine to keep it in place. It's a bit of a pain if you need to get to the spare but I went with the 90/10 rule so it's good for me.@kryptto ill have to look into the toe links, according to my ratio code, the lack of PP on the window sticker and a standard leather wheel ive concluded its a non PP with 20" wheel option. Simple to check for that recall or any safety related recall. Follow the link and enter your VIN.@kryptto ill have to look into the toe links, according to my ratio code, the lack of PP on the window sticker and a standard leather wheel ive concluded its a non PP with 20" wheel option. What lights did you install in your trunk? The Top Cop Z37s have great stopping power BUT they tend to squeak after they warm up, and they were howling for the first 1500 miles (just took the car on a 2500 mile trip) planning on pulling the wheels this weekend and double checking everything. I did the break in procedure to a T at the expense of my neighbors faith in my sanity (run to 45, stop, back up, repeat) but I also have a really bad growling noise under heavy braking that was there before the brake change too. light to moderate braking its smooth and straight, just a little noisy, heavy braking its still smooth and straight but the squeak from the front goes away and a growling gravely noise comes out of the back. anyone have this happen? still ironing out the kinks from the cars past life.
otherwise I fixed the rear camera and added some much needed trunk lighting. this weekend will be more brakes, forscan changes, and hopefully putting a floor in the trunk.

I've been thinking of turning the tire well into a tool cubby since there's nothing in there but a jack. The only thing that won't fit is my jump box which I figured I could mount to one side of the trunk. Air compressor, basic tools, and my impact all fit underneath. How big is the organizer you have? Thanks @Junkyard_Mad-Scientist, as far as your truck floor problem maybe you should get a weathertech or similar floor mat to cover up your carpet. Or get a rear cargo organizer like I have, I love mine.

It fits perfectly in the sunken part of the trunk. I don't have any good pictures of mine but here's a few I found online.I've been thinking of turning the tire well into a tool cubby since there's nothing in there but a jack. Pet peeves of mine - WT = $$$$ very expensive, but only player in town with quality thick plastics. Second pet peeve - the massive - IMO - WEATHERTEC badges on everything. Though if you look at my car - I hate branding.weathertech or similar floor mat to cover up your carpet. Or get a rear cargo organizer like I have, I love mine.

I had weathertechs on the interior and didn't like how they always moved around. They didn't lock into place, and the rears were 2 little pieces, and anytime someone rode in the back, those little pieces would end up under the front seats. So I ended up finding husky, and I love those! The fronts are secure and don't move, and the rear is 1 big piece that covers the driveshaft tunnel as well.Pet peeves of mine - WT = $$$$ very expensive, but only player in town with quality thick plastics. I have Husky and like it better, wish the front driver side would wrap around the frame better, but hey.So I ended up finding husky, and I love those!
