V8 SHO Welded cam vin list?

Looking at a used 97 V8 SHO, I've owned one before a few years ago briefly, I was able to look up the VIN with someone, or somewhere (I cant remember where) and found that the cams had already been welded and it was in the vin records.
Is there a list, or a library, of VINs for V8 SHOs that have had the cams pinned or welded already, to anyones knowledge?

Does anyone know if Brad Redmond in Washington (Federal Way or Auburn) is still doing cam welding?

We had a directory of v8 sho owners that is still on the v8sho.com website but not VINs as far as I recall. We had a list of cam failures and maybe that made its way into the attempted lawsuit v Ford. Check with the v8sho mailing list (Google groups) and maybe some of the old guys have a different memory and place to send you.

I live in Port Orchard. Reached out to Brandon Redmond via email from V8sho.com, he hasn’t welded cams in years and isn’t set up to do so. Did some digging and found the name Mike Stinson in Battle Ground, can anyone provide contact info for him or anyone else in the PNW that is experienced in...

Why not just have them pinned. Ive done a few on 4.6l engines. Just put it up in a mill or drill press and make a hole and get a pin. You can use loctite on the pin or even use 2 pins each to make you feel better. With a clean camshaft its a very easy process. Now removing and re installing, i never was part of that fun. Me do other fun, me make hole. Jam pin in it. Weld too much thinking. Put hole put pin. Eh maybe put camstick on vblocks first to check runout to duh book. Maybe no bother with it, just common things wez muhshinist look at first

Lack of facilities for me to do this might preclude me from owning one. Honestly, I'd rather just pay a man. But I'd really have to beat her up on price if its a mystery box.

This is the best idea. They are WA based and should know people, or know people who might know people, to get this done.

Pinning has been proven not to work with the V8 SHO cams.

Very dissimilar metals make pin matching impossible.
Cam SHAFT is tool steel.
Cam SPROCKET is powder-cast and damn near ceramic in hardness.

So. Get a pin that tolerates the tool steel and the sprocket tears it to pieces.
Get a pin that tolerates the sprocket hardness and it tears up the shaft.

Catch 22 - can't do both things right.

They also aint good metals to be welding together then but works because there is more area keeping them as one.
