Has anyone seen this happen before? Any ideas on what the specific cause of this would be? Also right after this happens the controls are unresponsive temporarily.

Edit Oct31 -

I took my SHO to the ford dealer (thankfully covered for this under warranty), they did indeed confirm that my issue is a faulty FCIM and the part is currently 4-6 weeks on backorder. I was able to get the specific part # for this.

Part# EG1Z18842EA

it seems like you are experiencing the somewhat common capacitive button issue. You will likely need to replace your FCIM (I'm trying to remember if this is the correct acronym for the front console control panel) to remedy the issue.

Mine does the same thing. I just haven’t pulled the trigger on buying and replacing the head unit (FCIM) yet.

You have to basically remove the every dash panel door to door and down the consul to get it out because every trim piece overlaps each other. Thanks ford.

Would you happen to know where to buy one of these? Or what part # it is

I looked but couldn't exactly figure out which part # it is
Easy to take the cover off. Its right behind the whole control unit. Pull it back and see the part number on it incase there is differences for years and options.

I wouldnt follow the part number but it shows where its at

Ok so the part number listed is probably a general part number and VIN or options of the vehicle will likely determine which exact part is correct. I would go to a local Ford parts department and follow up with this. I assume it is likely still unavailable as listed on tasca. Although I am seeing some with similar part numbers that are around $500 in stock so crapshoot. If you want the exact part number to search across the interwebs you can always remove the one you have and get the number off the back.

The parts department is usually much more helpful with more specific information (that's help hunt for used or aftermarket replacement) if they can't get your part-- as they won't feel they are losing the sale. That's been my experience with much older vehicles (with extensive obsolete parts) as well as newer ones. Big difference when they can't get the part. Also better in person in my experience.

Bought my SHO a month ago and this started happening. Took it back in because the dealer offered a 10 000 km warranty, they diagnosed that it was the FCIM as everyone here is saying. They are replacing it next week, if I get the part number I'll be sure to reply.

Just out of curiousity, what year is your SHO? And how many miles?

I remembered I still have an extended warranty so I'm taking it to a dealer tomorrow to see if I can get it fixed/diagnosed under coverage.

My 2016 with 61K miles just started doing this, and I have a BLIS control module in the back that is bad. Need to get some parts lol.
