Looking for some opinions on repair or alteration to the EGR/DPFE and PCV system on the V8.
So the entire upper intake and surge tank are out of the way for cleaning and repair of the IMRC/dirty secondaries. Short story, the back of the DPFE sensor was completely melted and one hose wasn't connected to it. PCV hoses from the valve to the surge tank cracked and broke apart as well as the end of the hose from the oil separator where the valve sits.
Now the car does have a SCT tune and doesn't throw codes for disconnected SAI so I am assuming it didn't throw a code for the melted DPFE. I didn't look close but the EGR port might have been clogged in the surge tank as well. I'm kinda operating under the assumption that the tune is eliminating any emissions related codes from popping up.
Now for the solution. Do I replace the DPFE and hook everything back up like it should be or can I rig this up to totally delete the EGR system and just cap off all the little vacuum lines?
As far as the PCV goes, can I pull the lower intake and replace that hose to the oil separator or is it inaccessible like on the Duratec 30? Rig up some sort of hose to hose connection for the valve to sit in and then reconnect to the the intake? Or would it be easier to run a slobber tube down the block and eliminate the PCV and just let it VTA, and plug the line on the surge tank? Just like most older diesel engines.
Looking for some more experienced opinions with this before I make a decision.
