92 SHO left passenger door motor problems

So the other day I accidently put down the left passenger window a bit. Tried putting it back up and now the window will not go up. Took off the panel to inspect. I can hear the motor running, but the window doesn't move. I am guessing the gearbox connected to the motor is possibly stripped? Anyone else got any insight for me on this?

Yes I tried to lift the window from the track and it would move slightly. I will try oiling it and see if I have any luck with it. RockAuto lists the motor/gearbox unit for about 25 bucks,

You will be able to get the old motor to work. At the worst, you will need snap ring pliers, but I have been able to get them working by soaking it with WD-40 for a few days to soften the hardened grease. But it has to be taken out of the car to get that first effort to break free.

Yeah seems like a PITA to get the motor out. Raining here now for the next few days so will have to wait until good weather now.

Help the window up while pushing the button. Open the door and squeeze the glass between both hands and lift it up if you have a helper to push the "up" button. The motors are much more likely to have gone weak, too weak to overcome the rusty scissor jack of the infrequently used regulator and dried grease. Also, press down, then up - there's a bit of play in the motor designed to get them up to speed before engaging.

Taurus curse. I added a long spring to help lift one back window (better stuck up than down), but it also made a spring sound needing rubber tubing.

If there was something stripped in the motor, it might be the worm gear, but that would take force these motors just can't put out. The window drops to the bottom if the teeth of the main output motor cog are stripped, not engaging the regulator, or the motor is removed.

The rear motors are more of a pain than front. They come out with just removing three bolts and bending the bracket back while weaseling and wiggling the motor out. The "easy way" is to drill the rivets and use new aluminum rivets after vacuuming out shavings and pieces from the bottom of the door.

I tried moving the window up and it moves only a little. I can hear the motor turning, or at least something moving. Also a "clicking" sound as it turns. Like something is I guess skipping or stripped? I got the panel off and look inside. Defiantly rusty and crusty. I will try to clean them up and put some grease on it.

The three plugs that couple the window motor to the gear have probably disintegrated. Common Ford issue. Dorman sell them but they fit really tight and can be hard to get in. There may be other options available.
