Ok. I guess in the automotive world, everything is charged to the customer by weight so I dont have the conection of volume and weight. It's all weight to my becuase that is what I worry about.

Sorry skyshaddow.

Now I know.
Unlimited journeyman HVAC tech here. In 15 years I’ve never once seen someone refer to a refrigerant charge by volume. Reason being 12 oz (volume) could weigh 16 oz or it could weigh 16 grams

Dropped 14lbs off stock with this GT500 V2 hood. You can hear the BOV very clearly now that there is a hole in the hood. View attachment 14343

I know I'm late to the post on this hood but how much does it weigh and how much does your stock hood weigh? I just weighed my OEM hood today since it was off and it weighs only 21lbs. And that's with the 2 hoods struts still bolted to it....damn, there's not much lighter out there. A fiberglass hood would weigh more and there aren't any TRUE CF hoods outside of exotic cars out there. I've been calling around to places and almost all CF hood manufacturers actually overlay CF over fiberglass. I can't see that coming in any lighter than 21lbs. Looks like I'll be sticking with OEM on this platform, LOL.

Me too...it's got the liner removed, so that helps. It also looks like half the size of the SHO hood though, so there's that...lol
Is your hood aluminum? A few months ago the guy in the bay next to me installed a engine in a 20 Ranger and I could have lifted it with my fingertips.

Yeah the Explorer Hoods are aluminum vs the Taurus hoods which are steel, so there's a big weight difference.

EDIT: Speaking of alum hoods for explorers, keep an eye on the front edge, they are notorious for corrosion starting from the underside where the upper skin and lower skin are joined.

Yup, been getting that small bubbling starting last year. Sucks ass for sure. When I first noticed it, I thought I got some sort of chemical on it. It's a known issue, but I'm out-of warranty and didn't get the extended plan.

My paint started failing right at the front lip of my hood. I fixed with a smoked AVS flush deflector...LOL.
