Performance Snow Tires - Has anyone tried them?

This will be my first winter in my SHO, so been considering options. Doesn't changing from 20' to 18' mess up the speedo?

Probably will somewhat. I have 20" Performance tires, so I went with 20" Blizzaks. Pretty sure what ever the diameter difference is will be negligible.

Many states, like Michigan, don't allow studs. So the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 works great, with those diamond hard pieces of material dispersed throughout the tread surface. Works well on ice, which is common here in southeast Michigan.

I have 18's with the Blizzaks and the car is an absolute beast. Highly recommend and I live in the coldest, snowiest place on earth. Trust me. .

Yep. Going through Discount Tire and their recommendations, I got 235/60/18 winters, which are the same diameter as my 275/40/20 & 305/35/20 staggered summer tires (not a SHO).

Automotive catalog website will also show tire sizes to match diameter or you can just do the homework yourself with a tire size to diameter calculator on google

I've pretty much just used UHP AS Tires for everything, I know winter tires have their benefits but I don't want to stash another set of wheels/tires even though I should. I'm sure my chrome wheels are gonna look like shit again after this winter unless I dip them or something to protect them.

I’ve used 18” cop wheels with Cooper Weathermaster tires for the past two seasons and wow this thing is a beast in the snow. It’s so much fun launching from a traffic light and seeing the faces of 4x4 drivers ..Jeeps more so... they’re like WTF!!!

when i bought my sho in dec it came with 18" steelies and Khumo winters - had one good dump of snow and Khumos gobbled it up no problem - speedo was on the money - tire pressure indicator light was on but went off when switching back to my 20" fact wheel - sidenote - checkout RockAuto for service items like ford eng air/ oil filter- cabin filter - way cheaper than thru a dealership parts dept.

My cop wheels came with factory sensors, and they all worked right off. The tire pressure light never came on even when I first started it.

I was told that too but still went with 255 55 18 Nokian Haakapeliitta 9s with a full compliment of studs. They were perfect. In fact, I am still using them on my awd charger

I love the Charger R/Ts, and Challenger R/Ts too. Was looking at the charger AWD but went with my SHO instead. Hope the awd R/T comes back! I now understand that changing the size does not impact the speedo. A few years back, I drove a volvo wagon with a stick, sports package and Blizzaks and those tires were great in all conditions.

18" Taurus take-off's with Michelin all season. Never have a problem, except the tire warning light stays on.

Side note about the t.p.m.s. sensors. You can but a tool from Ford for about 40 bucks to program the new sensors.

There is a thread about that, and the procedure to program sensors that I made on the forum. I'm to lazy to find it right now.

I got my tool for that thru Tirerack when I ordered up a set off aftermarket 18" rims and a full set of firestone winterforce tires. About the same price. I went thru the learn procedure first time I swapped, and have never had to do it again, just swap and go. Leaving that light on would drive me nuts.

Our first winter (first snow actually) my wife curbed it and wiped out one of the stock 20's. Knew I wanted something cheaper with more side wall. Agree with what most have said here, the car with a good set of tires does not struggle in snow at all. Serious grip.

wow nice. Before I got my SHO, I was living in the city so rented whenever I needed. Lucked into a brand new black R/T challenger... was loving it a little too much on rt 95, according to the infamous CT state troopers.
