I've been curious about this myself, albeit they're just shocks/struts not coilovers. My front struts are actually due for replacement, and I wanted to try this, but have been waiting for Bilstein to get back to me on their technical specifications so see if the damping will properly match given the weight differences.

I do have new PP struts in the garage, I can open one tomorrow and take some measurements.

In addition, the Left Front Strut has been out of stock forever. I have the Front Right and Rears available to ship but the Left has no indication of being back in stock anytime soon.

Is there a difference with the PP struts? I thought I saw the same part number on rockauto.

Also....would it be better to use the PP or the police package stuff?

The PP is the performance package there is no police package. I believe they have the same suspension components tbh but theres like 4 different suspension codes you gotta check in your door for

Also, it looks like there's some M4 sets that might have parts that work and if not maybe some of the subaru sets, problem is most of those have dual pinion attachment

Not according to RockAuto....they definitely have a Police Interceptor Sedan listed, which if I'm not mistaken, is the Taurus. They also have a Police Interceptor Utility listed, which I would assume is the Explorer.

So I ask again....is the Police package different from the Performance Package?

no the Performance Pack is the civilian Police Package.

Most websites list the PP as "w/ HD Brakes"

I've been through this with other members and going through all the technical documents we could find there is no such thing as a Police Package, they literay have the exact same stuff as the perfomance package. Maybe a few places mistakenly called it a police package, but ford doesn't sell a police package

The part numbers for the police interceptor are gonna be the same as a PP sho..... but a police interceptor is not a sho so obviously they would have different listings.
listing. So I say again there is no POLICE PACKAGE pp stands for performance package, all the PI have the PP and the PP was optional on SHOs.

what people refer to as the police package is the FPIS Intercepter vehicle. A lot of people think that it uses special suspension, but it's just the PP suspension and brakes.

Thats what I'm getting at, people think there's some difference between the police car and the sho with PP, the only differences are cosmetic and interior, the whole point of the PP was for us civilians to get access to the different tuned suspension, bigger brakes, extra cooling etc. The PI and the SHO with PP are the same cars mechanically.

I have access to them, have not tested them. I have new PP struts here ready to install.
So what are the PNs for the ones you know fit?
Your saying you have rear bilsteins and a front right for your car and just waiting to get a front left? And checking the damping rates?
My fronts need to be replaced

I do know that PP stands for Performance Package. I didn't say it stood for Police Package.

I was asking what the difference is between the two. Because rockauto clearly has both options listed.

I think fiveleeter answered my question, so this "is all I have to say 'bout that".
