it's definitely worth it.......unless you mod your car and get denied.

I've used it before on other vehicles for anything from cracked flywheels to broken axles to complete engine replacement. Once you pass roughly 50% cost, ya good!!!

The nice thing about the warranty laws in this country is, they have to be able to prove that it was the upgraded/AM part that caused failure. Typically other that upgrade part isn't covered because its not OE, just my experience from being in the car business .

I'll call Ford to ask about a Ford ESP. When I tried to get a quote from their site, it said I did not qualify.

Usually they just send it. The only issue I ever had was engine replacement. They had to have the pcm analyzed. It was interesting to see they checked key cycles and miles driven. I'm not sure what the deeper analysis showed. They ended up doing it after about 2 months of back and forth.

I don't know if I would take one outside of the mfg. Hopefully it's a good one.

They seldom are. I've been screwed many times by these "warranties" (they aren't). I only bought one this time because it was a Ford Premium Plus warranty. A true warranty...unlike aftermarket ones offered by dealers because if the handsome commissions they receive.

Which is why I won't tune my car until the warranty expires. My local dealer's service manager said any significant repairs will result in Ford Corporate requiring a deeper analysis of the PCM/ECM, etc to check for tunes or evidence thereof.

Luigisho, thanks for the 3 links. I have lower priced quotes from Lombard and Zielgler, can't get from Flood - the drop down only goes to 2014. I'll follow up on the quotes after I have the items fixed from the pre-inspection, scheduled for Monday.

You can get b2b or you can get powertrain (engine tranny). You decide how much risk vs cost and all that.

There are other ones out there. I can only remember so many things over the years so if anyone has another discount Ford esp seller post it up.

It's never that easy. We have similar laws in Canada. Many like to quote the Magnusson Moss Act. Problem is, if the dealer decides to deny a claim, it'll be up to you to pursue the case. Potentially years in courts and you out of pocket for the repairs until a dispute is settled. He said, she said.

I'll give you a very minor example. My wifes car was denied by a warranty company (Wawanessa), because they stated that the failure of the part was a "worn" out part and technically didn't "fail". Back and forth and the company said, they'd be willing to send the part to a lab for "metallurgical testing" and if the part was deemed to have failed, they'd pay. The testing was on my dime and in the end, wasn't worth the hassle and I paid for the repair. That was the last time I ever bought a warranty for anything, until 25 years later and this Ford Premium policy I purchased. Hopefully I won't get burnt again.

Only get a warranty if it’s from Ford themselves. Don’t get a third party one. Speaking from experience and will echo every negative thing said about them in this thread.

I try to do all the maintenance myself. How do these warranties view that? Meaning, am I going to get a bunch of nonsense if I have a claim because the car wasn't maintained at the dealer?

Technically, it shouldn't be an issue, but it does carry a degree of risk. You could provide receipts for oil, filters, etc, AND a log showing the mileage, dates etc, but Ford could argue that just because you bought the parts, doesn't mean you used them on the dates and mileage (or even the car) that you say you did. Whereas, a dealer, **** shop etc, provides a written receipt certifying the work was done. As much as I normally would DIY all my maintenance, I've chosen to let Ford do it until my warranty is done. If anything happens, I'll have the dealer backing my play.

When I'm under warranty I get all my oil changes done at the dealer. The works package used to be actually a good deal and maintenance was all on record.

I have an app on my phone that I use to keep track of what I do. Dates, mileage, etc. I don't think I could edit the dates if I wanted to. I guess it's question for whoever sells the warranty. Thanks guys. If there's a chance they will not honor the warranty for that reason...I may be better of "self insuring".

Hey there Forum members - this long flight finally landed. Thanks to the recommendations from this forum, I ended up buying a 2 yr / 24k Ford ESP Premium plan from Lombard Ford. The price was on average a thousand lower than everyone else. Thanks again for all the tips.

Dang. I wish you could have got it stretched out longer. Was that the longest they would go?
