I'm the idiot?

No, I was referring to Mr. Selcer. He seems to want to argue and fight in almost every thread he posts, along with making things personal towards other members.

thanks and I like your cop car or ski rack icon. Was always an adjustment once winter came. Funny how x decades later I'm driving this SHO with no emblem on the trunk so is funny to watch people come up behind me, slow down, then realize i'm not an unmarked.

Peetah this dude has no clue what he's talking about. Explain to me how a filter with almost 1/2 the surface area "flows just as much air" its literally not physically possible. There's a reason that company went out of business and doesn't sell them anymore.

Its awful funny people wanna be oil Nazis and then come in here and tell you that your smaller aftermarket airbox is going to be helpful.

If you did the research and you find that the MD ram air intake made just a much power as the stock air box on different dyno tests. Was it a performance upgrade? No. Appearance upgrade, I think it is. They went out of business because they were outrageously overpriced, had quality issues, and in most cases refused to fix their product when they failed.

I did do my research and I know that they can do other things to skew dino results, i also know that it is physically IMPOSSIBLE to flow the same amount of air through a smaller surface area, thats basic physics

Not sure what people dont seem to understand. Ford and Mazda have been using CAI from the factory ok their performance cars for OVER A DECADE. All you guys that go buy a $100 CAI at autozone and slap it in are doing yourselves some serious harm. Just leave the stock air on there unless you plan to upgrade the turbos, the stock airbox can flow more than the stock turbos can pull. If you really wanna make a difference on your intake heat wrap the plastic parts or replace them with metal, but for the love of God don't go replace an 8"x14" square filter with a 5"x10" cone.

You mean $500-1000 on cold air intakes! Ludicrous!

So, did you get the extended warranty??

In 2014, bought a 2010 SHO with Ford extended warranty. It paid for itself within a year. Don't remember details but transmission was messing up & repair was over $3,400. Was so happy to have warranty!!
In 2015, bought a 2013 SHO (traded Tuxedo Black for Deep Impact Blue) still under original warranty so I bought warranty a few months later. The warranty expired sooner than I thought (my fault for not standing my ground) and the car went on a break down spree. Everything that should have been covered, I paid out of pocket.
Moral of the story ... Do what works for you. If you do your research on what it covers, you can can answer your own question. Sometimes the warranty is worth it. Sometimes they aren't.

Hi Sho4peachie, Have not purchased it yet. Tomorrow my SHO will undergo the dealer inspection. Assuming all is good, I'll likely purchase it though based on examples of repair costs in your example and some others. Its the Premium Plan so covers just about everything except maintenance items with.

Jesus, kids.. go to your room.

Peetah, Sorry you're having to deal with this. As for the warranty. My local dealer offered me a ESP warranty for 36mo/36k that covered engine and trans but not electrical (base plan) for $3000. I was also very close to 100k miles. I shopped for the same warranty online and got it through Lombard Ford for $1300. You can google search Ford ESP warranty and just start shopping dealers. I would suggest that.

p.s. No matter where you buy the ESP warranty, it can be used at any dealer.

All day every day. I brought a Lombard quote to the dealer and they laughed me out of the building. Said that price was below their cost. Telling the truth? Probably not, but they were not interested in matching it.

it's definitely worth it.......unless you mod your car and get denied.

I've used it before on other vehicles for anything from cracked flywheels to broken axles to complete engine replacement. Once you pass roughly 50% cost, ya good!!!

Thanks again for the helpful suggestions. The plan they offered to me is a 3 yr/36K mile "Platinum" plan through Assurant, that covers everything except maintenance service and parts, for $2800 with a $100 deductible. Today I had the "extended warranty inspection" at the dealer. I need inner outer tie rods L&R, the RF axle has a minor leak, and a tensioner pulley. The mods they found were the intake, blow off valve and slotted rotors. All in all not bad, all things considered. Definitely leaning to buying the plan.

I agree, 3rd party warranty have sneaky words and terms that keep them from having to pay out on repairs. I have seen it first hand.
