Hey everyone, prospective SHO buyer here. Does anyone know of a list of the year-by-year changes for the 2013-2019 cars? Things like improvements to parts like the PTU, available options, infotainment, etc? I did some searching, but came up short.

I know that I want to pick up one with the Performance Package as having the additional coolers and drain plug in the PTU is important to me. It's my understanding that all 2013+ PP cars are equipped with this drain plug. I'm also surprised at how few of these cars seem to be equipped with the package. I run all the ones I'm looking at through ETIS, and it's like only about 5-10% have it.

I know that the adaptive cruise control is not available with the PP. Are there any other options that are excluded? I appreciate the help!

13’ had climate on the right of the gauges and on the left had logos for each category on the left of the info. My 15’ has neither
I think my 15’ was the last MY to have MyTouch. Then it went to sync 3

Thanks. Did all SHOs get cooled seats? I'd really love to have that for Texas summers.

Im sure they did, i know not all of them had massage chairs. All 2013 and up models ive seen had heated and cooled seats so im not sure if they were standard or not. I got my window sticker somewhere. Ill post it to see if it says anything standard

Mine came with that switch to disable the PTU so that I could run 10s in the quarter.

The problem with the PP cars is NO Adaptive Cruise Control which I love on long highway trips. Otherwise I would have gotten the PP as well. On a positive note the non-PP cars are quicker which seems ludicrous but is true.

My '13 sho pp had no amenities. No heated/cooled/massage seats, no BLIS, no cross-traffic alert, no navigation, no heated steering wheel. So don't assume a SHO comes loaded. My '13 was like a base model SHO. Only amenity was the Perf Pkg on mine.

My '15 SHO PP is fully optioned.

Sync3 is standard in 2016 models I think, and worth it. Added it to my '15.

I'd love to see some compelling empirical proof of that, since all I've ever seen one way or the other is forum hearsay. Same forum rumor mills say that the PTU/RDU can only handle 150 lb-ft of torque. But the stock drivetrain puts out ~5,000 lb-ft in first gear, so....

I have a '16 PP and had a '16 non-PP simultaneously for a little while. My Livewire put the non-PP 0.6s slower in the 1/4 mile in same conditions. But even that's not accurate since my wife's car (non-PP) had 87 octane in it, OAR -.47. Edit: Mine (PP) had a mix of 87 and 93 octane, OAR -1. Stock tune on both.

Well Livernois proved that a non pp and a yes pp with lower gear tranny are the same when tuned. When i called and asked before because i wanted a pp tranny and they said there is like no difference

Call and ask Cody

I have always questioned the whole non-pp SHO is faster. They claim the non-pp cars have one less shift in the 1/4 mile. They claim 1 to 2 tenths....which comes down to a drivers race.

Now if it is 6 to 7 tenths...maybe.

To my knowledge, the "non-PP cars are quicker" argument had to do with shift points and/or gearing ratios, and what you're measuring. A non-PP car might be faster going from 0-60 mph, but not faster going from 0-100 mph (or vice-versa). Also, if the PP has a higher top-speed, at some point the PP becomes the quicker car (full mile race?)

Which one gets to 140mph quicker?

Yea seems you dont got 401a package on your 13’. I never seen one in person without but i seen a few sold for california with cali emissions without the group pack

Stock vs Stock maybe. Both tuned, all they have to do is put the speed limiter to 300 in the tune. Depending on final drive of tranny also, 20inch rim models should be faster also

19inch rims are quicker but larger rims are faster as at 60mph the rpm would be like 150rpm lower. So more top speed before 6th runs out

You know wheel size has nothing to do with gearing, right?

It's the tire diameter that's wrapped around the (whatever size) wheel that determines your final gearing. AFAIK all Tauruses come with the same diameter tire, no matter the wheel size.

Now polar moment of inertia, that's another story, but we'll stick to the easy stuff.

No your faster with larger rim size in your last gear because the rpm is lower then compared to a smaller rim size. Do it all the time with my miata in autocross. 13s are for autocross and the 16s are for 1mile drag at abbottstown airport meet
Edit:
My bad i didnt realize diameter was the same on the 19s and 20s

I'd love to see some compelling empirical proof

I could drive to Livernois and ask them just as easily as calling. Don't know who Cody is, is he the one who babbled all the nonsense on this site about displacement being relevant to gear ratios? The only person I'd be willing to talk to over there is Dan.
If it ain't about 1/4 mile ET those guys generally won't have a clue. And considering their flagship for the platform 60ft's about as good as a stock Subaru, I don't put any weight in their opinions in that arena either. But being quick is more than just how fast you can travel 1280 feet. Let's see some 30mph-130mph comparisons, or line up a PP and non-PP and let them each pull through the top of 4th gear and see who's in front.

And no, wheel diameter doesn't matter. 20", 17", 15"... if the tires are still the same 28" then nothing changes

I agree. I want to see a stock same year pp and non pp from a 30 roll.

Pp is 3.16:1 final drive and non pp is 2.77:1 final drive. So non pp should be quicker and yes pp should be faster because the final drive band is pushed longer to the right so the pp wont get to a gear as quick as a no pp but the yes pp is faster in a couple mile stretch head to head but the no pp would be in front for 15 seconds until its passed at a higher speed if limiter is removed. If limiter is same on both, lower final drive is faster to the same mph
If i got it backwards either way one is quicker and one is faster

Ford has their ratios backwards. It says higher ratio for more acceleration which is false. Higher ratio is more top speed with lower acceleration
https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cu...2293/final-drive-ratio-engineering-explained/

non pp is quicker to same speed but yes pp is capable of higher speeds if limiter is removed or made higher
