If I had 20 or 30 k I would have custom cams made. The intake from the ford patent made. A jaguar x type 5 speed with all wheel drive and twin turbos and a blower and have the block mashined for darton sleeves for a 4 liter conversion. Rap bolts and studs k1 rods and diomond pistons. I believe if all this was done I would have the sho that should have been. Thoughts and ideas

If you had 50K in 1989, you could put the SHO engine in a Fiesta.

Or in 1989, put an Eaton supercharger on a 3.8L, and get the same horsepower out of a Thunderbird SC as a NA 3.0 SHO.

All it needs is 1000HP of electric RWD boost like modern supercars.

I recall at least one person hooking up electric motors to the rear wheels. It wasn't a direct drive, but ran from a chain connected through the trunk.

The 2010+ should not have been tranverse. They should have been rear wheel drive, with the ability to transfer power to the front.

I would love for my 2013 to have a new 3.5 ecobeast with twin scroll turbos, mated to a new 10 speed trans and a bulletproof transfer case.

Why? I can own either of those. I personally wouldn't because I would rather spend the money on a Aston Martin DBS. I own my SHO just for the fun factor of being able to say, "Its just a Taurus" when you lay waste to far "superior" cars. In a 996 or a 911 C4S or GT3 the performance is expected. My buddy has a 2016 911 and I hate the damn thing. I don't fit it comfortably, the in cabin engine noise is cumbersome, and the car for being alot of money is just....meh.

If I had to buy a Porsche it would be a Macan GTS.

I can't agree more. So many "Sports" cars are just uncomfortable. I pass enough Mustangs and Camero's with a full load in the back seat. I have access to many of those cars and prefer the SHO.

I saw one for the GenIII and one for a 3 stage intake on the early v-6 cars. We didn't get either.

I must admit, I am not fond of the 991 or 992 editions of the 911 either. VW, when it took over Porsche began altering the 911 to increase sales, and though they certainly succeeded in that, the results do not appeal to me personally. The 997 is the last of the 911s that I have driven and enjoyed driving, and I suspect that is because it is the last of the 911s totally designed by the Porsche management team before the VW team people got their fingers into it.

Likely we bought our SHOs for very different reasons. I got mine because I needed to have the room to move about a curling team (4 teens) and their gear for reasonably long distances but still wanted to be driving something that was a bit fun. I have kept the car for 20+ years at this point because it was fun, but I do admit I have much less use for it thse days, having recently picked up a 4 door Jeep that would eat it alive in most circumstances. Times just move on, and I am finally considering selling the SHO.

But all that aside, you seem to have totally missed the at the end of my original post that apparently got you all excited. Normally a wink means its a joke or to take things lightly. Just say'in... Oh, and do not get the Macan. I drove one, and its way more money than it is worth.

They haven't owned Jag for a decade. They sold them to Tata along with Land Rover brand

Like any exercise of this type, how much do you want to spend, how long do you want it to last?

A guy at the next high school over put a Chevy 350 into a VW bug, drove from the back seat, used stock VW transaxles. They lasted only a week or two of drag racing, but he probably partly paid for them with winnings I know my buddy with a 750 Commando had to pay him, and that was seriously fast, low 13's in 1972.

A member here had one of the Gen I SuperSHO's, IIRC it had 485 whp, on a chassis that weighed ~1000# less than a Gen IV. Cost less than $50K in the mid-'90's. But the engine self-ventilated after several years, not sure exactly how long, as even the Yamaha had its limits. It might have gone through a transmission or two by then as well. He did track it regularly.

A Jaguar X type 5 speed wouldn't be able to handle the torque, though I don't know if it would be instant snappage or just a longer-term gear fatigue that would get you.
