I usually don't post about the ST on this forum, however this story is too good to not post.

The Focus ST got some action by a Fiesta ST, and sadly my ST got walked by the Fiesta ST twice yesterday. At a street light a red FiST came next to me and gave me the BOV business end. It had black limo tint windows, upgraded BOV and exhaust from what I could hear. Like and idiot I left traction on. Light turned green, I spun really bad in first gear and when I short shifted second (FiST was already two cars out on me) traction control killed the power and I got freight trained. I laughed so hard, and said to myself, "yep that just happened."

Got to the next light, and the window to the FiST was down. Very petite blonde girl with these stunning blues is staring at me. I am in utter shock, and instantly smitten. First thing out of her mouth was, "You left the traction control on huh?". With much embarrassment and ego checked I said, "Yep, like an idiot". She starts laughing, and said well turn it off and give it another go. I said okay. Couple lights down with traction control off, she proceed to leave me AGAIN. This time, I short shifted second and it spun, and I didn't hook it until third. She was out on me by four to five cars now. I ran the top of third and only got one or two cars back, but she had me dead to rights.

Next light we exchanged car info. He has as a catback, short shifter, tune, booma BOV, drag radials, and now my heart. I asked if she goes to the PAV's on Saturday, and she said yes. I told her, I will see you Saturday, and I will bring my ST's big brother the SHO...lol.

did u smash tho

Just a bit of advice my friend....turn of the TC first this time:whip:

Or I could wager the race on who loses has to buy dinner. I could promptly throw the race ensuring dinner, have a nice dinner, and then take her to the GAP while leaving.....

The culture is changing and it is pretty fun to watch. I have had more fun with a mid 12 second car that surprises the crap the out of everyone, then I have with my other big hp cars.

Ladies are getting behind the wheel, and doing work. I mean look at the ladies in the NHRA. Every class except funny car has had recent Female Champions. Brittney Force, Erica Enders, Angelle Sampey. They are paving the way for the this newer generation.

You can get a lightly modded SHO (DP's, High Boost, Race Fuel, Super Aggressive Tune, drop the exhaust from the DP's back, and strip the interior) into the very high elevens. It is hard, but doable.

Remember, the SHO is a heavy pig. It takes big tq to get her moving, and big hp to get her moving faster. I would rather spend the money, and know I can run deep into the 11's full weight, in comfort, at anytime. Plus a 500/500 awd car is going to really hard to beat in the Street Light to Street Light Grand Prix. The power gains in these cars are remarkably cheap compared to what I used to build.

We should start seeing track times soon. I think the 500/500 (SBS and 802SHO come to mind) cars will run in the 11.30 to 11.50 range at a quarter tank of fuel and full interior. Jordan will strip his SHO and with his mods should be in right with them. Once he gets turbos, I think it will be a race between Jordan and 802SHO to be the first to click off a 10 second pass.

And probably 1000 pounds difference between a 90's regal and a current sho

You are correct, there is 1000 lbs between my fox and my SHO. My fox on both kits made roughly 550 to the tire, I didnt shift it higher then 5,600 to 5,800 rpm. That is why it didn't have a faster et, and it was really heavy compared to other foxes.

It isn't the HP that kills the 302 blocks and cracks them down the main caps. It is the harmonic pitch change that reverbs through the block in the high RPMs that kills them.

So a 550 hp & 500 tq, 3800 lb, gear banging fox runs 10.80 @126 ish, verse a 500 hp/550 tq 4,800 lb SHO that runs a 11.60 to 11.80 @ 120...there is the weight showing its face.

I went through my SHO engine compartment. I have been having boost issues. My boost peaks around 16 psi and then tapers down to 13 psi with almost 95% WGDC in the high rpms. I looked at my dyno graphs and data logs and I asked Brad to make my car shift at 5,800 rpm to get the car back in the usual power and not for it to dwell in the high rpm's for no reason. I also asked him to ramp the power in quicker to make up for the lack luster "big end". I am not worried about LPSI, and the trans has a warranty.

I checked everything hoping to find a boost leak. BOV's diaphragms were good. Noisemaker (which I will delete soon) is in working order. All couplers and connections are good including boost reference lines ect. I have checked to the best of my abilities to see if there are any cracks in the plastic charge piping, and there seem to be none. Intercooler couplers and charge piping to TB is secure. So I am hanging my head in defeat that my turbos are worn out. I have known I was just in denial. So...

I knew that the SHO was heavier that the Regal GS, but I thought maybe 400-500 pounds heavier. Looked it up, and you're right, it's right around 1,000 pounds difference. "Heavy pig" indeed. lol

Just walk around your SHO/MKS and see how big is it. There you go.

So this weekend, I will be completely stripping the ceramic coating off my SHO, and doing another complete paint correction. Shouldn't take me too long, because I have a new DA polisher, and I know what I am doing now. However it should be worth it. I am going to clay, decontaminate, de-iron, compound, polish, decontaminate again, and then seal her up with this.....

Should be interesting, and I will keep everyone updated and give my initial review and then my review further down the road.

Looking forward to it! I saw Pan did a review against Megs HCW, Mothers CMX and TW Ice Seal and Shine. Looks like Turtle Wax Ice Seal and Shine is pretty legit and worth looking into if you're on a budget. I personally have a new bottle of Meguiars HCW waiting to go on the wife's ride, it just needs to stop raining every flipping day.

There is another review that shows that turtle wax ice is a bit better as far as repelling chemicals

The Ice line is legit stuff!

And to clarify my budget comment, it wasn't directed at you @SM105K. I was just mentioning it for anyone reading your thread. With all the drama lately between the forums and FB, I've been browsing the detailing forums a lot more these days. It too can be an expensive hobby!

My SHO had a hiccup yesterday. I opened the garage, got in and hit the start button. The dash wigged out, like it was short circuiting, and the motor turned over slowly, but it fired. Dash went back to normal. I had a Nav fault (Insert SD card) notification come on. I let it run for a minute, and turned it off, but didn't open the door driver side door. I hit the start button again and everything was fine. Drove it 15 miles to where I was going (heard a fascinating lecture on Ronald Reagan) and two hours later I walked out and it was fine and drove it home.

When I get home later today, I am going to clean and check my battery post and terminals. I will also check the acid levels in my battery as well. I know the SHO's are really sensitive to weak batteries, so I will investigate further.
